Or (far more likely) you were talking about a motorbike even if you didn't specifically use the word.
I've also mentioned in an earlier post that I really don't have a problem with the motorist paying (more than) the full cost of the roads, but I do have problem with people claiming that they don't. But I guess that comment passed you by seeing as it doesn't fit your preconceptions.
Am I the only cyclist?
British cycling already includes insurance of varying levels in its membership. So theres over 75000 cyclists before you look at other clubs and private companies
Surely I pay more with both of my modes of transport?0 -

I paid more for winter tyres for the bike than the car cost me all year in repairs/maintenance

What about the tyres? That's the bit in bold and underlined in case you haven't been to Specsavers recently
Looking at prices online, it seems to me that either those are motorbike tyres or you don't spend anything like enough maintaining your car to keep it safe, let alone in decent condition0 -

I went with Swalbe Spikes in 700c 25s this year
Thats over £160 for 2 bikes,excluding the spare spikes I ordered0 -

oh,a cheeky edit
how much does a car cost to maintain if you dont know the mileage?0 -
So now it's "bikes" plural. Loving those shifting goal posts

well take one bike, its still more than I spent0 -
A traffic warden etc could "at a glance" tell if a car was untaxed, a resident could tell "at a glance" if someone had dumped an untaxed car on their car park, an accident victimn could tell "at a glance" if the vehicle that crashed into them was taxed (if not = less likely to be insured too).
When this is implemented its going to be a tad harder to tell, it will take longer than just looking - you will need to go online/use an app (and there needs to be an android one - and it needs to be free).
Better make sure that you have saved all your old tax discs as in 50+ years time they are going to be rare collectors items

Sorry but there is an organisation that probably has more ANPR cameras than anyone in the UK.atrixblue.-MFR-. wrote: »As ANPR is only fitted to kitted out vans and traffic cars how are the panda plods going to know? pull you to check? or are they going to spend the cash on the police to allow them to kit every car in the entire fleet across britain and the british isles?
Ever seen a VMS (Variable Message Sign) on the motorway displaying a message like this:
"To J47 M81
Distance 6 miles
Time 5 Minutes"
Ever wondered where the information comes from? For years all motorway junctions have had ANPR cameras on both carriageways and all slip roads and every vehicle is recorded. The newer the motorway the more sophisticated the equipment. Not used for enforcement, etc but it would only take a few small changes to be used for road charging.0 -
There's already a market for out of date tax discs. It's a bit of a niche hobby though - one tax disc looks much the same as the next so I suspect it will never achieve the popularity of, say, stamp collecting. The current world record is £651.90 for a 1923 tax disc, so if you're hoping that the one in your windscreen will make you rich one day you should probably be prepared for a long wait.Better make sure that you have saved all your old tax discs as in 50+ years time they are going to be rare collectors items
OTOH I've got about four, one behind the other, in my tax disc holder right now (too lazy to take the old ones out), so I must be quids in!0
