The trouble is it does not look good when changes are made and then those that ask for further changes/changes back are told that it is the wrong time of year to make changes. Either we can make changes now or we can't.

It is absolutely right that nobody asked for the mags thread to be closed, and Toniq did a very good thing highlighting that some were missing big prizes on the mags thread. The situation we now have was imposed without anyone being asked if it would work, can it be improved, do you have any further suggestions etc. There were, and still are, a number of solutions that will work better than what we have now and I think satisfy 99% of users, including having the comps listed on the main board as they should be.

I hope that this can be resolved as soon as possible as there seem to be many people unhappy with the current system for a variety of reasons.

Toniq, delighted that an MSEr won the £3.5k. Well done, and sorry for the hurt that has been caused to you both intentionally and unintentionally.

Rather than posting comments that are or can be interpreted as personal (posts can so easily be read in the wrong "tone"), let's try and work together as a community to find a solution that gets us all the most wins, which is why we are all here!

I think an attempt to provoke a row was made yesterday at #4, but nobody bit...
So the ante was upped today and became more blatant by making it very personal and naming 2 well established and respected posters.
    Why?
A sensible suggestion was made that could resolve any lingering issues, but some people simply see an attempt to resolve it as an excuse to have another pop & stir up more bad feeling.
There are advents and comps to get on with FGS!

I've asked her, but again that's up to her if she does.

Now I'm going to comp as people are telling me and not going bite at this anymore.

Again, please can we not call out individuals for criticism? Any ongoing interpersonal conflicts or complaints should be taken elsewhere. These personal attacks are why people are afraid to broach the subject. I think we are all adults here, and can have a productive discussion without attacking one another.

The topic under discussion is whether or not magazine comps should be listed in a single post if they have multiple routes of entry through different magazines. My position is that all the routes of entry for a single competition should be in one place:

    Example:
    E: 31/01 Mag Daily - Win a Rubber Chicken

    Chat Magazine link
    Now link
    Woman's Own link
    etc

    What did Chicken Little cry?
A - The sky is falling!

In this case, there is one Rubber Chicken being given away, and you have multiple ways to enter. To list the same Chicken multiple times is duplicating the competition. If it were a Rafflecopter competition, it would not have one post to say 'Win a Rubber Chicken on Facebook' and another to say 'Win a Rubber Chicken by blog comment', etc.

Now sometimes, there will be multiple prizes in multiple places. In those cases, certainly they should be listed differently. In our Rubber Chicken case, let's say they are giving away one by Daily Mags (in 5 different mags), another by single entry in a newspaper, and a third on the Rubber Chicken's Facebook page. I think they would be listed three times, as there are three different competitions, but that the five Daily Mags who are participating should be included in the same post.

Now... you can agree with me, or disagree with me, or have your own suggestion. Any of those responses is fine. What is not fine is complaints, finger-pointing, blame, and personal attacks. Please, take it elsewhere.

Okay, but how do you think it should be done?

as you've suggested they were asked to be posted as separate postings because they are from separate magazines.

thanks Fire**fly that's what i was trying to say

So is it 1 prize listed across all mags or is it each mag is giving away a rubber chicken?

Is it a case of you enter 5 times to win (if there were 5 magazines running it)?

And is the want for putting all 5 mags in one place so as to free up 4 places on the board?

If its 1 prize, 5 ways of winning it, I don't see the harm in it going in one place.

I have no reason to doubt you or Lucky One. But no one is coming out and actually asking this now. Not one post in this entire thread so far has said "I like the system exactly the way it is."

Now if you actually mean that you want the system to remain the way it is, then please clarify, and I will be happy to count you. But so far, there has only been a mention of "others" who might get upset. If there are, they are welcome to come into this thread and be heard.

@rugmaker: That's really a question for the moderator team, and doesn't really belong here. I suggest opening a thread in the Forum Rules subforum if you want to discuss it.

@McclarenGurl: We're talking five magazines giving away one rubber chicken.

Here's an example of T&C from one going on right now, where 7 magazines are hosting the same competition:
    Terms associated with this competition:

This competition is running concurrently on the websites of www.womanmagazine.co.uk, www.womansown.co.uk, www.nowmagazine.co.uk, www.wotv.co.uk, www.pickmeupmagazine.co.uk, www.chatmagazine.co.uk,womansweekly.co.uk

This competition opens December 5 2013 and closes 23.59 on January 17 2014.

The winners will be drawn from all the correct entries drawn from all the sites.
