Parking Eye - do I really need to prove my innocence?

I got a PCN from this mob for staying too long in a motorway services car park. I logged on to their website and appealed tellin then that I was staying in the hotel and that they had my permission to verify this information with the hotel.

I have now received a letter asking me to send proof. Whilst I have this, what I don't have is the time and energy to send them a copy. What are my options? I'd really love to reply and say that my employer booked and paid for the hotel and that they will provide proof for a fee. Can I do this? Why should my company do this for nothing?

I guess I could just reply in the first instance and just tell them to contact my company......

I see where your coming from but if you are going to reply saying contact my employer you may as well send them the proof and have done with it.

A while ago when I owned a haulage company I received a few of these and at first I used to offer the drivers details for the same price they wanted to charge for the parking charge. No one ever took me up on my offer. I would not have given them the details if they had of course.

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing....play them at their own game
  • i personally would do this, as its the quickest way to try and get this canceled

Otherwise they will decline your appeal, then you will need to appeal to popla

Would that be a problem if my company has the invoice from the hotel?
  • Cant see why, if they decline it then you can just come back here and we can help you win at popla

The situations quite simple, I stayed at the hotel which was booked and paid for on my behalf. My company is prepared to make a copy of the invoice available for say £70 plus Vat. Or does that contravene data protection, lol
  • I really wouldnt waste your time,

Either just send them a copy , or dont, then appeal to popla

I'd just write back with the bare minimum of information - such as a booking reference number and the contact number of the hotel so they have to waste their time checking it.

I agree with you, it's actually their problem and not yours. You've told them how they can verify you had authority from the principal so that should be that. I'd also be tempted to continually write back to them with the same letter if they say this is somehow not good enough.

I agree with you, it's actually their problem and not yours. You've told then where to find all the information.
