Ok, thanks. I'll sit tight for now. My wife's cousins are solicitors, and she refuses to contact them for advice! I'll somehow convince her & speak to them in the meantime.
  • I wouldnt bother tbh, a lot of solicitors dont know very much about parking tickets tbh

POPLA is my friend, GPEOL is also my friend and will be your friend in the very unlikely event of court papers. Its nice to have friends! Shame the ppc's dont have any.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, if only it could be put to practical use, what hasbeen, has hapened and what happens next can be worked upon.

first, put away any ideas of paying these scumbags, remember that decisions made by POPLA are binding only upon the parking company and not the motorist, or to be precise the registered keeper.
Next beleive it or not there are a few options still on table with regards to canceling this whole thing.
It is highly likely that UKCPS are employed by some one, in most cases this will be the car park owner at Whitehall Quays, or the management company/organisation if its a residential area, these are the ones who took on UKCPS to act as their agents and they as principal are responsible for the actions of those agents (UKCPS) and as such it is whoever took on UKCPS that should be at the brunt of any action you may wish to take
a letter explaining things to them stating that as a direct result of the actions of their agents they have now committed a ( possible ) breach of Equalities act, as well as the mitigating circumstances etc etc, and that they as principal must now cancel any action being taken by their agents on their behalf.

Thanks, will do that. I don't know who the owner of Whitehall Quay in Leeds is. My sister-in-law is a tenant there; she's away this week for a meeting. I'll contact her for the details.
  • Big Boss - I've sent you a pm with suggestions.

Thanks for the replies. Personally, I want to take it all the way further, but my wife advises me to pay up. Can I ask UKCPS to explain how it arrived at the £100 charge?

I would be proactive if I were you. But that doesn't involve sending money to UKCPS who are based round the back of a Leeds pub.

Why don't you contact the EHRC (might be the 'Equality Rights Advice' team, Google and find it?) and see if they will help you to make an OFFICIAL COMPLAINT to POPLA and UKCPS and their client (hotel/landowner?) for ignoring the pregnancy situation - which meant your wife was protected by the Equality Act 2010? To cause your wife detriment and harassment for something connected to her pregnancy is unlawful; sex discrimination. Worth a few emails anyway to try to get the EHRC's take on it (they have a detailed website).

DO NOT reply to any pm from an unknown poster. UKCPS read this forum and could try to contact you to 'offer to help'. Beware of that but also be aware that even if UKCPS try a small claim, then you can defend it and it doesn't affect your credit rating as this isn't a credit default. Why not tell your wife you will handle it, have researched & found that even if UKPCS try a small claim papers it's no biggie (and could always be paid off then - even just before a hearing if you bottle it - and cannot incur high court costs). But that it's a matter of principle, and Equality Act issue and needs to be put to the EHRC, which costs you nothing.

    Congrats on the little one!
