Please don't beat yourself up because as far as your dog was concerned it was absolutely the right decision. Even if you had known what was going to happen it would still have come as a shock.
Remember your dog for all the happiness your pooch created for you and for all the good times you had together

We have been quoted £150 to have our cat euthanised at home and I am really struggling to find the money, does this seem the usual cost?
I'm not sure I can face 'shopping around' for a better price and I am under the impression the cat has to be registered at that vets for them to come out.
Taking her to the vets would be so very very traumatic for her, really don't want to do that.
I wish she would just go in her sleep, which in itself is making me feel bad, she was still in her bed this morning and didn't rouse for ages, very unusual, and I was desperately hoping she'd gone but thinking like that is so upsetting.
Is it worth asking if they do a payment plan, is that something they do, don't want to ask if it's never done and look like a terrible owner.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
How urgent is this? Its been a good few days since you posted about this issue, is the cat suffering?
If there is time, you could apply for a 0% credit card and then pay it back in instalments before interest kicks in?0 -
I have posted about it a few times and keep chickening out, convincing myself she'll perk up, I know it's stupid and I'm not sure what it was I waiting for, I know it sounds mental but it seems so hard having her pts when she's alive, it feels like murder.
I know it isn't and hope noone is upset by that.
The last cat I had pts was fitting and barely concious so it was so much easier, but god knows i don't want to see that happen to rosie but It took away the decision ifyswim.
Its not massively urgent but I really want for us to be able to greive etc before it get too close to xmas, god that in itself sounds so selfish.
She has chronic diarrohea, a lot of the time not making it to the tray, she's not grooming so I am having to clean her up after every mess she makes and she's not really eating but still drinking, oh god that sounds awful when I write it.
aaargh am sending myself bonkers.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
I wonder if I'm using the cost as yet another excuse not to do it.
I know I've posted about it loads people must think I'm mental but I can't talk to dh about it because he hates the thought of it so every time I wobble about having it done he says lets just wait then.
But wait for what?
There isn't going to be a miracle she's old tired and very fed up, she was such a lively happy cat, the best hunter ever, so very very affectionate.
Think I'm using this just as a way of expressing my feelings hope nooone minds.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
You need to pay it and deal with the money situation after. It's not fair on the cat. You'll recover financially, she won't get any better and it's making her last living days miserable.0

That does seem very high indeed. I lost one of my two cats a few months back after she was hit by a car. Her body was taken to the vets where they kept her all day, until we discovered what had happened. I know its not quite the same but they only charged me £20 for her cremation. Sorry you are having this extra worry0

Thats not even including cremation costs we are putting her in the garden, lees advice was although abrupt exactly what I needed to hear, I have just booked it, I will ask my mum to lend us the cash, if not I'll put it on the credit card.
Unfortunately ds 12 overheard me on the phone, despite me going to the bottom of tne garden to call!
He thought I was arranging to have her taken away!
I've told him the vets coming to see if anything can be done to make her better but for him to be aware it may be kinder for her to be pts that day, he's upset but seems to understand.
Feel better for making the decision, still hoping she just drifts off though.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
This sounds a reasonable cost to me. Your vet will also bring a nurse so you are paying for their time. Unfortunatly it does cost more to have them put to sleep at home but it is much less stressful for the animal.0

I had mine PTS at the vets on Monday. That cost £70 plus almost the same for cremation. If cost is an issue I would suggest taking her in rather than a home visit. It is heartbreaking, but it sounds like this would be the kindest thing to do for Rosie. I'm so sorry, please PM me if you need to.0
