Motorola Moto G on Tesco

I've just tried to change my security PIN number and I'm now locked out. I need a PUK code and all before I've actually activated my phone.
I bought the phone from Tesco online and the box has no details of phone number or IMEI number, the label is all scraped off. This is the first phone I have owned which has no details on a label on the box.
My Q is - when I go instore to Tesco, how will they know what my PUK code is when I have no idea of the phone's identity? Does this make sense?
The only thing I have is my order number.
Help appreciated. Screen message reads "Enter PUK code to continue. Contact carrier for details".

The PUK is a lock on your SIM, it's phone independent. The store won't be able to help you, you need to phone Tesco Mobile, or see if you can get it by logging into you account online.0

Thanks. But why would I have an online account? I've got a PAYG phone through the post that is now locked on the same day without being activated?0 -
Well it's something you'd have to register for, some people would do that straight away.0

Tesco online chat sorted it Rusty via the serial number on the SIM, thanks for advice.0

Forgot to add - can anyone tell me why there no clues on the box as to my phone number? The label has been scratched off so I'm a bit intrigued. And I want to know it hasn't been tampered with.
Is it to prevent sim-swapping? Theory being, first thing one should do is to top up the PAYG sim and give Tesco more money?
Folk could swap in an existing Tesco contract sim in and throw the PAYG sim away for example. Thoughts?0 -
That's normal, phone boxes never have the phone number on, since it's not to do with the phone (or at least no phone box I've had mentioned the number).
They have a pile of Moto G's and a pile of micro SIMs which are combined. You'd expect the number to be on the paperwork, although thinking about it I didn't actually get any paperwork with my G. Not that I care though, since it's going to someone who is on Orange.0 -

Cheers. So, if one is really pedantic, there's no way of knowing your number until you top it up and ring someone? Or is there a way of finding out via the phone settings?0 -
When we bought a Motorola Razri from Tescos via their website earlier this year it came with a label on the box with IMEI, SIM and mobile no. I didn't realise until my DD accidentally turned it on that they had actually inserted the SIM into the phone before sending it out.0

My point exactly, I would've expected this but it was all scraped off the box. So how am I meant to know the details? I'll ask on Tesco live chat and see what they say and post back. Thanks.0 -
The PUK code was printed on the sticker attached to the SIM card that also had the phone number on if that helps.0
