Well, if that's the glass half empty approach all I can say is ... cheers, with your glass to mine because in the last few weeks I had my coal and logs delivered before the cost goes up in August (using my Mr T cc stooze to get club card points for Xmas food shop).
This weekend I'm grabbing some me time with my patterns and deciding what [STRIKE]cunningly frugal[/STRIKE] handmade with love knitted gifts to make peeps!
Do you ever go over to the winter prep thread over on OS? I do confess to lurking there quite often! x

Good plan on the logs.0

Thanks for that info about the RM.
I think I will re-apply, especially as my next money generating plan is 'get into surveys'.
Hope the tum is better today
You are doing well with your tomatoes. We have lots of tomatoes, but as yet they haven't ripened.Early retired - 18th December 2014

I never head anything re RM Goldiegirl. Will re-apply, thanks for the info Hbb.
Am an os lurker on the getting ready for winter thread too. We have coal organised and Mr Watty spent a Friday evening cutting logs recently too bless himMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

No problem Watty, I hope you get onto the survey soon.
Yes, the OS winter thread's quite interesting and it does add to the old motivation to get prepared as frugally and well ahead as possible.
I'm glad to know we're not the only ones with that kind of Friday evening entertainments! :rotfl:Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Hope everyone's OK! Quick update on the last couple of days ...MFW actions:
* NSD today, not yesterday as paid car tax, insurance etc.
* Weird money day yesterday. Ended up with a money summit with Mr. Hbbb to help with all the "stuff" he has going on at the moment. We've changed a few things around as things are having an impact on the direct debits and usual budget, which is going to make the MOPs a bit harder. I'm determined not to let it impact on the SMASH progress though (which should be OK as I'm making better progress on that than I had dared hope and I still have a uni payment to come).
* He has culled Netflix and Spotify though so we officially now have no entertainment budget apart from a fortnightly date night (we take turns in being the organiser / funder for this), but it has a £20 limit each date and we'll often try to do something free and then use the cash for something else.
* Chased 4 clients for payments today and 2 have paid up, complete with a small bonus from one of them, just have to wait for the other 2 to cough up and for it all to clear! Proper payday on Thursday so hopefully will be able to do an end of the month account shuffle and MOP then.
SMASH day 58 / 100 = £ 2,508 / £ 3,000Grey Clouds:
We keep cutting our cloth to fit but the fabric seems to be wearing a bit thin! Yesterday's discussions were altogether quite stressful even though it was very much a team approach to what we want / are doing. Trying to feel positive about everything we're doing, but just feel a bit tired at the moment, I guess
Current students leave in the early hours of tomorrow. I really think I will miss these two, they've been great!Silver lining:
We are still on the same page about it all and will use August to really try to work on making the student hosting viable to see whether it's something we're happy to keep doing for the money.Daily declutter:
2 boxes of bobbins passed to mum for bootsales = 246 / 365.Simple pleasures:
* Last of this season's baby sparrows safely fledged.
* Getting an unexpected bonus.
* Recent tummy aches and focus on water rather than food have resulted in 2lb weight loss! At last my Happy Scale graph has a dip in it!
Hope everyone is OK xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Hi Habibiboo, glad to hear you're feeling better.
Re the grey could - it's a long old journey we're on and I know Mr T and I have ups and downs. Whatever downs there are though, at least we are all heading in the right direction
Hope the new students are OK. Will they be from the new company?

Can yor Mr not just move jobs?
Am I misunderstanding?
Sorry things are hard for him.0 -
Sorry to hear it's a bit of a slog at the moment.
I felt a bit like that around about March time.
I think I'd spent a Wednesday making sure I'd baked enough bread to see us through until the weekend, done a load of batch cooking and made a cake. I was knackered and nearly abandoned the project, with the attitude 'stuff this, next time I'll buy sliced bread, a stash of ready meals and a Mr Kipling fruit cake.
But I did pull back from the brink, I think the thing that got me back on track was starting my own diary.
From everything you've written, it's clear you and Mr H are a solid team, so I'm sure you'll pull through:)Early retired - 18th December 2014
