    Yay to uni!

    Boo to student money people!

I just had to laugh A*M ... I joked with the student lady that if I don't get my money the students don't get their ketchup so we had a laugh about it all! Will check accounts again today!

Hope you're having a gentle week after last week x

Ok, I have just got to ask (sorry been subscribed for quite some time but now really feel the need!). When cows eat something interesting it flavours the milk. Does the same happen to eggs when the hens eat something interesting - as in trying to eat all your herbs?

Hi Patanne, lovely to meet you, thanks for subscribing, that's kind!

The answer's yes, there are some things you shouldn't feed hens because it's not good for them, but other things, including garlic and onions that you shouldn't let them eat if they are roaming, because they can make the eggs into quite a strange flavour. I think the herbs are mostly ok because they mostly have a subtle flavour, it's those strong flavours which really carry through to the eggs!
    Do you have hens too?

No - no hens here - nowhere to keep them & I am sure the neighbours would complain! But I remember years ago the milk tasting unusual and the farmer who delivered telling us that it was because the cows had got out and fed on something they shouldn't. I suppose it is a bit like breast feeding, if you eat something weird it gets in your milk. I just wondered if it would be the same with eggs. I suppose even with free range eggs the hens are normally limited & so just taste the same. Let's put it down to an enquiring mind or being just plain nosy!

Back again! Mad busy few days, but all in the ongoing good cause!

    ;) MFW actions:

    * NSDs on Saturday and today although Sunday was a little spendy with food shopping etc. Nothing unnecessary though, and menu for next two / three weeks planned and purchased for £68 (including students' packed lunches etc) just milk and fresh veg etc to get as needed.
    * Drop down on mortgage facility has been approved, just waiting for confirmation of reduced mortgage interest rate.

    SMASH day 37 / 100 = £ 1,850 / £ 3,000

    :( Grey Clouds:
Student money not with us yet even though the students leave tomorrow ... is it me or did those two weeks just fly by? However ...

    :) Silver lining:
Have received big apology from the admin girl who apparently copied my sort code down wrong onto their paying sheets, which is why I haven't received any money yet. It was good of her to be honest about it and it's the kind of mistake that could happen to anyone! At least I know I will get it (Thursday is planned ETA) so hopefully will be able to make another cheeky MOP then.

    :p Daily declutter:
Being a bit carp with this as house, students and work seem to be taking up all my time. Have started another boot sale box for mum so will count these out at appointed time. Defunct earphones dumped today as couldn't think of a way to up cycle them, total = 246 / 365

    :D Simple pleasures:

    * I'm grateful that these students have been so easy! Just the right balance of being here and being out! Really quiet at night etc, all been good. The next two have a hard act to follow!
    * Edna now has a properly pink face, so she's already getting a little stronger (have been quite worried about her, she seems so fragile compared to the others). That said, have hit on a little method for soothing ruffled feathers in henhouse at bedtime, just not sure whether to share it ... I really do run the risk of sounding like mad mother hen lady if I share.

So, thread survey ... Do I share and risk losing all my MSE friends and gaining mad chicken lady label or stay quiet and keep revolutionary method to myself?

Hope everyone is Ok, hoping for thread catch up through the week. x
