Thanks Alchemilla ... of course now he's hit the holidays he's not resting at all but has been straight out into the garden! He got some books for his birthday too, so I've been trying to encourage a bit of restful reading too!
He received a letter from the surgery today asking him to call asap but of course they're not open until Monday! I'm hoping it's nothing grotty about his ECG on Thursday.
Hope you're having the restful day you deserve!

Well the scales at my gym make me happyish but whenever I come home and use mine they (and subsequently I) am downright grumpy!

Never know which ones to use for my monthly weigh in!

And don't get me started on the Wii Fit that whimpers when I stand on the balance board!

Hurdler, I'm so with you on this ... I can't stand the variable nature of scales, it's impossible to know if the weight is shifting in the right direction or not. I can't remember if I wrote this, but I can get a 12lb variation just by moving my scales around the bathroom (new scales or new floorboards needed do you think)?

Haven't tried the Wii approach as don't have a telly but my sister's always trying to get me on hers!

Do you stick to monthly only, for your weigh-ins? I tried for longer periods but I'm back onto the daily weighing routine again! It makes me feel more pro-active, but I'm not really sure how! X

Terrible night's sleep thanks to late night coffee at Mr. Hbbb's birthday meal, followed by birthday boy snoring all darn night!

What I did (by 10.30 am):

    * Stripped and scrubbed down henhouse
    * Weeded lettuces and filled up that raised bed with rest of lettuce seedlings.
    * Prepared raised bed 2 and planted my squashes at last.
    * Took leek seedlings from under cloche and placed the trays on raised bed 3, ready for transfer when they're a bit stronger. Having the trays on there will help keep the weeds down there till they're ready to plant.
    * All "nursery" strawberry plants which were overwintering in raised beds now transferred into strawberry planter bags.
    * Two more growing bags filled with compost and planted up with my beets (two different varieties).
    * Two loads of laundry onto line

    Later on:
    * Enjoyed visit from sisters to see Mr. Hbbb.
    * Mange-tout peas into soak for planting out tomorrow.
    * 2 hours of work (thanks to Mr. Hbbb taking turn for dinner cooking

    What I didn't do:
    * Walk dogs with Mr. Hbbb this evening as needed to finish a bit of work I'd started and back killing from gardening!
    * Forgot to put my pedometer on today so don't know how far I went around the garden / house today, but sure it was thousands as it's a 500 step round trip to henhouse and raised beds and I did that many a-time on the watering can to outside tap trips! (Butts are now empty)!
    * Not much diary catch up happening as Mr Hbbb wants to watch birthday DVD. However, I have to work most of tomorrow so will use diary catch ups as Lois-type rewards throughout the day!

;)MFW actions: NSD; RM survey completed for £5 voucher; online banking for new account set up.

    :(Grey Clouds: tired ...

    :)Silver clouds: ... but happy!

:pDaily Declutter: 2 books given to sister (total in signature to be updated momentarily)!

    :DSimple pleasures:
    * Finally saw the osprey on onsprey cam!
    * Spending time in garden with OH, we like building our nest together :o
    * There be birthday cake left!

    Hope everyone's had a relaxing Saturday! x

I used to weigh weekly and then when I was struggling to adjust to new working hours, I stupidly ate at maintenance as if I was training during the week so put all my weight back on!

Then when I started at a new gym my weight was going up despite going right back to My Fitness Pal basics!

I was so annoyed - so I carried on logging but stopped sharing it with people as I was getting fed up of people telling me to cut this and that out of my daily life - my aim is never to cut anything out, anything in moderation.

When I stand on the Wii the weight is way different to my scales so I don't use if for the weigh in but that's an interesting fluctuation for your scales - I have tiled floors on concrete so maybe that's not an issue.

I use a tape and measure my waist, neck and hips to get a body fat % figure once a month.

I downloaded Happy Scales and was going to try weekly weigh-ins but then one of my MFP friends does suggest weighing daily to better understand the fluctuations, so might start on Monday.

This morning I weighed 2 lbs more than yesterday morning! Why? Because yesterday I ate a LOT of grains - something I usually avoid. And although today is my 'designated chocolate-eating day' (dh is off to Paris tomorrow on a training course til fri and we 'need' to finish off my mother's day box!), I'm not feeling like eating it yet!

I weigh daily, if nothing more than to keep a record.if I do that, then I tend not to increase.

But the measuring thing is more of an accurate marker for me - bust, waist over belly button and hips at widest part.

:(Ugh to this, I know I should do this, but I tend to use how my clothes feel / fit as an indication to whether the pounds are creeping on or off!

You might like HS from that side of things Hurdler! If you log your weight daily, it takes fluctuations into account and gives you a general trend line, rather than a ziggy zaggy graph line which, if you're like me, looks like the Pyrenees skyline and makes it impossibly disheartening! I like that HS is showing a downward trend even if my weight is slightly up for a couple of days.

    Good luck!

Hi A*M, yes grains really add the "bloat-factor" where I'm concerned (thank goodness for tunics and elasticated waists)!

Another advocate for measuring - you're all starting to make me think I just don't measure up in this trying to lose weight malarky!

Hope everyone's OK and has had a happy Sunday.

    What I did:
    * Lie-in till 9.30 (was absolutely fast asleep, not just too lazy to get up)! Catch up from Friday's awful night, I think!
    * 6 hours work
    * Bit of time with OH but not as much as I'd have liked due to pesky work!

    What I didn't:

    * Lose any weight this weekend. I'm being so good but have lost nada!
    * Put the heating on until 5 pm despite cold day!

;)MFW actions: NSD; sealedpot #1 is now completely full, can't get any more in it! Need to sort an MSE friendly #2.

:(Grey clouds: None really, although plodding on with work on a cheery (but cold) Sunday!

:)Silver linings: Work = cash in the bank = MF sooner rather than later hopefully!

:pDaily declutter: forgot to count my Fleabay parcels out so total is now 117 / 365. Tis free listing but need to step away from the computer this evening as I'm punch-drunk and headachy from it, so will have to leave it until next time!

    :DSimple Pleasures:
    * Treating self to thread catch ups between work tasks, some fun conversations going around, lovely to be part of!
    * Mrs. Blackbird almost took meal worms out of my hand today but pesky pigeon disturbed us and frightened her off!
    * Early night to be had
    * Filling in work schedule for next week (it's like getting paid for having a to-do list)!
    * Listening to Paul Weller on Spotify (free version) whilst working.

    Have a great week, everyone!
