Woo hoo to a (bobbing) 5 figure mortgage!!!

Seasons have indeed changed - was heavy rain here yesterday morning. Although it then brightened up in the afternoon (and has stayed that way for today) it is a brief interlude in more predicted rain - and you can certainly feel that it is much cooler of a morning and on an evening

Dog tug 'o war sounds terribly cute!!

Did you not know that dogs actually own all the socks in the universe?

Puppylove sometimes recalls one of her subjects while it is still in use.

Well done on getting below the £100k barrier

I'm sure it'll stay below that figure very soon

Thanks GreenT, I confess to checking it online again today, just to see the good stuff. Scrubbed down the henhouse whilst pondering how to try to stop the bobbing!

Agree with you about the cold of an evening time of year, yesterday's sock theme continued with the fact that I had to take my sandals off in the evening and pull on fleecy socks instead. And so autumn begins! x

Hi Al, I used to think it was the tumble drier that was the cause of the odd sock phenomena in this house, but since we've no longer had the tumbler, I now know the truth! Awww, bet the kids love that game with Puppylove. x

  • Hello,

You have been very busy. Reading about you watching the birds does make me realise how very much I want to spend more time at home. I am enjoying the change in the seasons, it is colder but also very beautiful.

All the best for the new week,
    Squirrel x

Well hasn't this weekend gone quickly ...

    ;) MFW actions:

    * NSD to kick off this week's continued attempt at frugality. Aiming for at least 5 again this week, so 1 / 7 achieved.
    * General plotting and pondering to prevent the 5 to 6 figure bobbing.

AA action: sis wanted to go to meet up in town for a coffee today so I invited her round and made her one instead! This also saved me from accidentally buying / eating any cake too.

    AA day 44 / 100 = £882 / £ 2,000

    :( Grey Clouds:

No weight lost this week, despite excellent continued efforts on that front (and back, and hips)!

    :) Silver lining:

    Sunny day!

    :p Daily declutter:
Forgot to mention yesterday's toiletry use up of travel sized body lotion which I finished yesterday. Today saw the end of a face moisturiser too so that's 304 / 365.

    :D Simple pleasures:

    * Cleaning hen house with the accompanying chatter of my feathered females.
    * Using up all of these moisturising products, overall skin tone is marginally less Brillo pad and, dare I say it, slightly smoother!
    * Fish pie comfort food for tea as DSD and Mr. Hbbb have passed on their colds to other DSD and I, so fish pie and tissues around the dinner table.
    * Plotting, planning and problem solving.

Hope everyone else has had a relaxing weekend. Big hugs :p x

Oh, and frugal menu plan for this week, all homemade, and as much veg as possible from the garden.

Sun: Fish pie, carrots, kale (today)
Mon: Butter bean and carrot soup or beetroot soup ... so that's orange or purple soup, depending on my mood (chef's privilege)
Tues: Spicy lentil bake, kale, sweet corn
Weds: Jacket potato or freezer use up dinner
Thurs: Soup ... of whichever colour we don't have on Tues :D
Friday: Date night dinner (we've hardly seen each other this week or weekend and Mr Hbbb is out 2 nights next week so I reserve my planning on this one for something special on the fakeaway lines).

Hi Squirrel, you snuck in there with the stealth of a secret Squirrel indeed! Yes, just can't help being drawn into watching the birds' activities, it's the one thing which holds me back from getting a cat, as I know the birds wouldn't play in the garden like they do with a cat on patrol.

Hope school is being kind to you, have a great week too. x

Another one voting for more time to watch wildlife :). Was on the golf course today with Mr GG and loved watching the bouncy squirrels :D, plus 2 red kites trying to get peace and quiet to eat a dead squirrel . Fabulous birds but they have a rather pathetic squeaky call :rotfl:.

I always enjoy seeing the birds in the garden, but we have a bit of a problem with a wood pigeon at the moment, as he (I assume it's a he) literally hogs the bird table, and eats all the seed.

It means the smaller birds don't get a look in.

We've tried putting a twig across the opening to the bird table, but he limbo dances in! We don't want to make the opening too small as the blackbirds won't be able to go in, but I'd love to stop this pigeon eating everything we put out - he's costing us a fortune!

I always like reading your menu plans - gives me ideas for things that I can do - butter bean and carrot soup and spicy lentil bake sound like things I'd enjoy
