Hope you feel better soon :j (best not to do that at the mo ;) )
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Evening Habibiboo, hope you're feeling brighter and Mr HBBBOs leg is improving.

I saw some huges sloes yesterday but way too high up to reach and like Tootalluha, we still have sloe gin/vodka to use up :)

    Hope your week goes well.

Hi HBBBO I do hope that you feel better soon, what a bore. Sloes here are fantastic this year but I still have both gin and vodka from last year so no picking for me. Long may this September summer continue, making up for autumn arriving in the middle of August. I am trying to cut down on gas use etc so no heating here until Octoberish.

Yes pickings are good here too, vast improvement on last year! Mr Hbbb picks the high ones, I take the low!

We're the same here with the heating, our target is to,always get to the October half term before the central heating goes on, but we do light a fire before then if it's nippy! Have you got open fires in your house? And are you now settled there enough to use them? X

    Ta Tilly!

Mr Hbbb's just had a rub down with anti inflammatory rub before bed!

Once he took a step ladder sloe picking with him as he was so frustrated by the just out of reach ones!

Hope all's good with you, particularly workwise? x

What are you doing, staying up so late, young lady? Get thee some zeds!

And, apart from gin and vodka, are sloes good for anything else? No idea if we have any around here, but if we do, I want some free food!

Take care, and take it slow/sloe and easy please. I shall do divebombers, burpees and pistols on your behalf.

    Hi again Hbbb

I know I've just been speaking to you on my diary but didn't realise you were feeling rough. I do hope you feel better soon and well done for getting out in the sunny weather, it makes me feel better anyway :)

Is Oct half term the usual challenge then? I was wondering when to aim for before switching on our 'million £ an hour' plug-in radiators! We will have the wood burner lit soon hopefully because I love it!

Thanks for keeping me in check A*M ... we just had a troublesome night last night, is all :o

So, sloes ... the River Cottage website has lots of alternative for the old drinkie, in fact they have a whole forum thread dedicated to it if you want to find out more about sloe chutney and sloe jelly. The jam / jelly is then really lovely with a sponge pudding. They really are abundant at the moment, so perhaps DD could hold the basket and you could do a little foraging in the evening sun?

Slight progress on the AA has been made today but yes, you're right, I recognise the need to be a little slow but steady at the moment! x

No worries Janey, have been mighty perked up by all the excitement on the doggy front! :D

Yup, always half term here ... we make do with the log fire / wood burner, thick jumpers and hot water bottles until then (although one of us continues with the thick jumpers and hot water bottles until the following June each time, it has to be said)!

Imagine, you're going to have a lovely lurcher laid out on the hearth once that burner's lit ... you might even need a bigger rug if your boy likes to bask in the warmth like ours does.
