Hi Habi. Glad things are going well.

On the wedding topic, he who pays the piper calls the tune.

Quite agree about the wedding. Invite who you want and nobody else!

    Hi Habibiboo

I've been reading your diary over the last few days but wanted to wait until I had finished to post. I've enjoyed all the student tales and chicken adventures as well as the money/mortgage parts.

You seem to be well on track and I wish you well for the rest of your journey

    BW :)

Wow BW, lovely to 'see' you ... you read the lot? Hope you're now having a well earned cuppa and chocolate biscuit or whatever your reward of choice is!

Many thanks for wading through it all and for your kind words and good wishes. The keeping on track is definitely helped by setting it all down, particularly when I get tired and can't see my way clearly, the diary reminds me where I am and the thread in general with all the efforts of other MFW peeps (like yourself and the other lovely visitors on here) keeps me well reminded of the task in hand.

Best wishes for your journey too! x

Busy times, TFI Friday all round!

    ;)MFW actions:

Trying to get back into the rhythm of NSDs but urgent milk needed because students have now got a taste for (a) drinking it as opposed to just pouring on cereals and (b) spilling it as opposed to just pouring on cereals or into said glass to drink!

Half-'arrised spreadsheet shuffle last night, not that I wasn't motivated, just that Mr. Hbbb needed help with other things. Still the big news is small MOP of £100 made until the weekend, when hopefully I'll have a full 'happy hour' with the spreadsheets. Which means ...

    SMASH day 76 / 100 = £ 3,094 / £ 3,000 :T

Not sure now whether to keep going to see what the final total is after 100 days or call it a day (or 76, in fact) and move on to next mini-goal. Will ponder.

    :(Grey clouds:

    * Mr. Hbbb is now away for 5 days. We miss him.

    * As such, I walked the mutts on my lonesome. We were having a fantastic yomp over small park as a well needed work break, but several local 'sorts' were camped by the main bench (next to the dog poo bin) complete with their 4 rottweilers chained to said bin!

Of course I had a deposit to make in the bin (not personally or literally, you understand, just the responsible dog-owner-bagged-up kind of deposit) so the rotties went bananas at me, which started my muppet boy off, giving it 'all that' in return (which he's very good at when big aggressive dogs are securely on leads, I've noticed) to which owner of said rotties had a go at me with a colourful, if not quite eloquent, accusation of winding up her dogs by approaching them ... er, no it was the bin I wanted actually! :wall: !

I usually circuit the park 3 times with doggies but felt it best to deviate significantly and walk off the paths and in the mud to avoid going past them again. During which process (or should that be procession) ...

I found out how it is that using a pedometer makes you walk further. It's because they sneakily fall off when you are detouring through the mud, so that you then don't realise until you've done 3 (kind of) circuits round the park and then have to retrace your steps (which of course you can't count) to go and find the thing!

    :)Silver lining:

Happily I did find it and, just as happily, it means I've probably done my 10,000 steps today despite working until 9 pm! Total says 8,770 thus far and that doesn't include the treasure hunt to track it down!

    :pDaily declutter:

1 kitchen cupboard cleaned out and 3 really dreggy, nasty jars emptied and repurposed for upcoming passata making fest! Will count these in (or is that out?) when I actually re-use them.

    :DSimple pleasures:

    * Knowing that my raggedy, skinny muppet boy would be prepared to take on four rotties to protect me is quite humbling really. I'm just glad it wasn't a 'proper' challenge, ie: they were securely chained and he kept at a safe distance, really. No faulting his instincts, but I don't think he'd quite be up to the job of defending me (or himself) against that little lot!
    * Thinking up new plans for mortgage busting.
    * Finding a small bag of T'tons chocs at the back of said cupboard. These have been very successfully decluttered during the evening work session.

Hope everyone's had a good week, an excellent Friday and is building up to a brilliant weekend! x

Congratulations on the Smash, what an achievement in about two and a half months!

What a sweet doggie:). It's a shame your walk was interrupted though, there's some unpleasant people and dogs out there

I agree what you are saying about the pet insurance. We've paid out each year on a washing machine insurance policy, for about 8 years, and have called out the engineer just once.

So we could have paid for the repair, and have been better off.

But the washing machine sometimes makes odd noises, and there's random leaks from time to time, so we are bound to make another claim soon, so I daren't cancel it.

The SMASH has been a complete smash, you should be at the target very very soon. That's a fantastic achievement.

Yes, there was an addendum to the insurance company which I won't bore you with but suffice it to say that we're sticking with the decision to go with the buffer rather than with any more pet insurance. Ironic in respect of today's potentially dodgy doggy situation though!

Thanks for your support on the SMASH Goldie - the money from the uni project and the students has definitely made it possible, plus our re-jig of Mr. Hbbb's account and me throwing every penny I've earned at it ... the autumn doesn't quite hold the same MOP potential, but I'm content at the moment that it's all going in the right direction.

And yes, the boy's a keeper!

Oooh, we're all having a before bed MSE fix! :rotfl:

Thank you ladies ~ "smashing" MWC, I see what you did there!

I'll check on the mortgage figure over the weekend once the mortgage interest has been debited, but I suspect that the success of the SMASH also means we've now comfortably met the mini-goal of getting below £103 k in September. Will confirm after the weekend.

I do appreciate everyone's support, couldn't do it without you and your kind comments and your own inspirational threads and ideas! x

    Great stuff HBB :j.

I dreamt of dogs last night, I'm sure inspired by your pooch - though it appears I told Mr GG out loud very firmly 'I don't WANT a dog' :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
