At some point, all the extra world GDPs of imaginary money will need to end and the debt will need to be unwound. That will trash the value of everyone's investments, which is part of why governments are fighting to avoid a hard(er) landingi have heard a lot of people say UK bonds are the safest ... however, i am not so sure ... the UK is in a huge mess financially, much worse than a lot of people understand, so didnt want to risk my money there if that makes sense ?
Do you know, I don't think anywhere counts as "safe" as I understood it when I was first learning about this stuff. When the imaginary money is eventually stopped and investments are trashed, we can see that stocks are no good. The world will be in a depression, so commodity prices are no good. Company bonds will crash, and even funds will take a huge beating. Even cash is no good, because there'll be bail ins. I'm seriously wondering about buying a multi-fuel stove, even if it just has to sit in the background here and I'll take it with me when/if I move, or even buying physical gold or silver. I don't think the system itself will crash, but good coins might be the only thing that retain their value...
Is that alarmist? I can't see getting out of stocks altogether right now, but I'm deeply wondering.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Not alarmist at all KC i think similar thoughts often myself, however, it has been pointed out to me that gold and silver will be of no use, what would be better is things like water filters to barter with, if were talking a total break down in society that is ... a BOB bag would be very handy
That why i dont think you can ever put a value on education, learning survival skills could mean the difference between life and death, basic first aid and seed planting etc will go much further than bits of paper that tell you you have shares in something that is worthless.
It's a case of where do you draw the line? and what if society doesnt break down how can you afford to retire... got to prepare for all circumstances i spose lol0 -

You can't eat golda BOB bag would be very handy
