    2. There are things out there worse than "Gangham Style".
    3. There are things out there that make Val Doonican sound like Death Metal.

I must admit I didn't hear all of it. My headphones burst into flame about 2/3rds of the way in and I had to stamp them out. I do feel I heard the "song" at least twice by then though.

    That was dreadful.

Actually all the above doesn't sound very positive - does it? Every one says I'm negative - I'll try positivity...

I love that you got so much out of being in the dentist's chair ... extraordinary the thoughts that can occur when there's no hope whatsoever of jotting them down!

Glad you've made your decision about uni, hope you get what you want from it, including the change from the current work situation. :)

Yeah it was quite an interesting dentist session :) I think I was more surprised about his lack of knowledge/ interest in the whole financial world

Its a damn fine way to get a payrise.

Yep and I don't need to do any overtime for it either which is like a double bonus in a way :)

Hey all, night shift again ( oh the joys) Mr El's wage came in so have transferred £150 to the mortgage taking it to £200 for the month :)

Have been out with pen and paper again and working out money, it's nice to sit with pen and paper and work these things out :) obviously things will change again in September when I go back to uni but it was an exciting wee half hour with pen and paper

The whole pensions subject has been in the fore front of my mind as well, I seem to keep moving the goal posts of my planning, but the one constant is I need to save more money, so will need to try and work a way that allows me to do this, and will need to ensure that any extra I make gets used appropriately.

I don't think I can realistically cut back any more tbh as we do live a rather frugal life ( ok with the exception of holidays and the last spend on the house ) and I don't want us to start grudging saving for a pension or paying off the mortgage, so really more money coming in is the answer, and that basically comes down to me Mr El more than contributes to the pot, I think this is part of the reason I am going back to uni, when I become qualified I will be earning atleast £5 an hour more ( as far as I know) that's quite a lot over the course of a year, the pension that comes with it as well would mean that I wouldn't have to put as much in

Ohhh I forgot to say, Mr El made a pork thing yesterday and there was plenty left so we tried the whole 125g each for meat and have enough for another two days, will need to see now if it fills us up, but if so then it's a start for us to become used to smaller portions :)

Good luck with the meat measures, very intriguing but great if you get your money's worth without feeling like you're going hungry! I'm trying smaller plate, smaller portions to try to help with the diet, but "treating" myself to all-you-can-eat soup days twice a week! Good times :p

I'm so with you on the True Income side of things, El. This is where the biggest "savings" from my drop in pay-slip income has come from, we're doing so much more with less and life, health are both that bit better for it (most of the time)!

Excellent job with the planting, not so sure about the whole Devine episode though (ZTD :rotfl:) had no idea such things still existed outside of my grandparents' goggle box circa 40-odd years ago! Tiny Bubbles indeed! Do you think Michael Jackson named his chimp as a tribute to this true music muse? :rotfl:

Just caught up reading diary - its a great read!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
