  • That post is exactly how I try to see life everyday. I'm definitely a cup half full kinda girl.

Korma sounds lush. Hope Jelly is ok and you have a relaxing evening Xx

  • Lucky, that attitude shines through in every single post you write my dear. I am a healthy mix of several ways of looking at the cup methinks. There is a demotivational poster which sums it up so well.

Three glasses sit on a counter, each of them filled to the mid point with a yellowish liquid. The first, smiley glass says "I'm half full". The second sad faced glass says "I'm half empty". The third glass has a frown on his face, and says "I think this is pi$$". So, I try to be optimistic, occasionally have a bout of pessimism, and often throw in a healthy amount of cynicism to the mix.

I do realise how lucky I am. As our dear Greying says, Ich habe genug. More and more I think that these days. Everything I 'want' seems to bring with it a whole line of necessary items to go with it. And so I find that I do not actually need the original, or its collection of requirements.

Some days I feel so ridiculously grown up.

...And then I buy myself a my little pony advent calendar. :)

  • I was kind of prepared for the fact I'd probably end up dairy intolerant as its apparently a common side effect of becoming wheat intolerant (about 4yrs without proper pastries). It took me several months to get the GP to listen and refer me to the gastroenterologist as they are the only ones that can refer me for the proper tests but there's a huge waiting list and I'll be moving out of the area so will have to wait till I get the new place but the consultant wrote a note fir my file to say I'm to be referred to the local hospital ASAP. God I just want to eat a block of cheddar.

It's always good to have a healthy dose of cynicism and pessimism, makes things going right so much more exciting

Hope you've had a good day

  • Hey guys

Yesterday was a good and relaxing day. Today I have a manic work schedule. Not enough arms, legs, eyes and ears.

I barely slept last night for some reason. I finally drifted off about 2am, and then Jelly came in at half 5. I could have cried. I put her back in her room and 'locked' the door, but she repeatedly banged and banged and shouted. So I gave up about 6. Tonight I will be eating my leftover korma and going to bed!

NewMe - Cheddar is one of those things where I put up with the tummy cramps and issues because I just love cheese on toast! And the other weakness is banana milkshake. My cousin is a coeliac and was incredibly poorly for a long time with it. Touch wood she hasn't had any dairy issues to date. Jelly - they make me give her something with dairy in every 6 months to observe if she can tolerate it yet. If anything she appears to be getting worse and some of the things that have no dairy but have gluten in them seem to be affecting her tummy too. Maybe she is doing the same as you. SHe is also allergic to her namesake Jelly :(:(:(

I was hoping to move my categories around on YNAB tonight but I barely have the required brainpower to get me through today at work let alone that! So I shall bid you all farewell as I am unlikely to be on again tonight. I will be in bed by 7 :) xx

  • My mum had a terrible bout of gallstones and never recovered even after they took out her gallbladder until she went to a chinese dr, and he made her eliminate dairy, sugar and gluten. Now she's off them she's realised she's always been allergic to dairy and gluten (but always ignored it), and the jury is still out on the sugar. I've always thought I've had a sensitivity to bread (though weirdly not pasta/other types of gluten), and recently I've realised (after cutting sliced bread out, though the more artisan type rolls etc seem to be ok) that beer has the same effect. I don't see how I can be allergic to one type of gluten but not another - mum says maybe it's one of the preservatives that go with it? Either way I'm not taking my chances as I can now tell when I've had something! Not sure I could cope if it escalated into full blown gluten intolerance though!

I'm still looking for a penguin advent calendar, I might have to settle with a dairy milk one (unless anyone has spotted one!?)

Hugs on the sensitivity, the remembrance silences always make me cry, which is really embarrassing if you're at work!

I'm now going to have to find out where the nearest lidl is, as that korma sounds ace, and I only know of a local aldi.

PP - gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye and - in a different form - in oats. Beer is made from hops, I think - is that barley? So gluten-free encompasses beer, couscous and other stuff!

I am soooo hoping now that I never need to be dairy free too! Gluten-free, grain-free and sugar-freeis all fine. But no more cream, cheese, cream cheese, pl yog... Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh!
