Hi Lilty! :hello:
Sorry I haven't been visiting for the last few days... WOW your life is a busy one. Glad Jelly is over the worst of her issues. I know how you feel about the cold. I'm on my 4th in two months. Thanks to my OH.. Grr.
Your account swapping has made me think I should look into something similar. Do you have to close an account to swap to a new one? I was thinking about doing the Yorkshire one and moving my EF over.
Have a lovely afternoon!

Glad to hear Jelly is feeling better.
Not fun having a nightmare neighbour, hope it gets sorted out sooner rather than later.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
Hi guys!
Levi am imagining you out with the lads downing much  and having a laugh. Bet Luca is having an awesome time with FGN too:D
Ali sadly when it was decided I couldn't look after the company I work for's finances properly working only 3 days a week (inconvenient for boss rather than that I couldn't do it. She had me on tap 7 days a week before then spent a year of me being off duty 4 days a week) it was decided that I would take over all of our corporate business. I spend my days setting up huge pensions, quoting death in service, private medical insurance, cash plans and appeasing cranky higher ups at other companies when I actually have ZERO training. A year in and I have tamed the worst of the wild beasts, got a handle on what I am doing, and am generally owning my job. As always. There isn't much people throw at me I can't deal withsound cocky don't I
October ref the banks, usually in the T&C's for getting the bonuses etc there are things such as must use the 7 day switching service which automatically closes the old account, must pay in X per month/in the first month to earn the bonus/interest rate etc, and must switch all direct debits from the old account (at least 2)
Mine started slowly and snowballed the more I figured it out and decided I could get rid of the oldest account I had to benefit myselfif you don't have another bank account, apply for a basic one online with your current bank, no overdraft, and then switch 2 DD's to it. Quick and simple ones for example are TV License, & Paypal. TV License is always the same. Paypal is only used with your knowledge so you can pre-empt the money coming out & you can set up one paypal for every bank account you've got as long as (like me) you've got several email addresses you have regular access to. Then switch the new account
if you have the patience, the rewards can be great. £125 1st Dir, £100 Halifocks plus £5 each month, £50 for you and a friend who refers you if you know anyone with Nationwide
I've got 2 DD's with 2 banks, which are the same amount each month & have monthly standing orders sending the money across to cover the DD's, then the rest of my DD's with my main account. TeeEssBee don't give a bonus but they also don't expect you to close an account or switch DD's to go across to them so if you have up to £2k to store they pay 5% immediately and forever, no gimmicks.
I literally spend 10 minutes on payday shifting £1k through the accounts on my banking apps. In return I get about £20 a month interest now. I compound it by shifting that extra interest into the account I haven't filled up completely yetAnd like I said, I don't go with Overdrafts now as no need.
sashybo lovely to "see" you!!
Thanks everyone for your support ref neighbour. Got a couple of responses from management company. Someone has come and 'spoken' to neighbour and got a completely different story from him, blaming all the hassle on a man a couple of floors up. Neighbour and this man have past history. Both have been heroin addicts & they dislike each other intensely. man upstairs was on a methadone prescription but is now clean and has put on about a stone in the last few months. But neighbour has said it is him and now HE is under investigation. I sent a rather abrupt response to this email stating FACT not fiction created by a skank covering his own bum and getting a very gentle man with issues he has finally conquered into trouble. I haven't had a response yet but I offered both a 24 hour use of my flat for them to purely watch and listen to the coming and goings, and advised that my landlord is hopefully putting up CCTV which they are welcome to watch. Must think I came down in the last shower.
Anyways... today was great at work. I FINALLY ticked off some tricky ISA transfers that have been ongoing since OCTOBER  and it felt amazing getting them off my to do list. Burned through a tonne of bits and bobs that have been hanging around whilst waiting for a colleague to stop using a programme I needed, and got much satisfaction when leaving bang on 5pm with update sheets emailed to Boss full of completed items and barely anything elseI've been promised a longggg list for next week and that is how I like it. Hate having A: nothing to do and B: stuff hanging around I can't finish!
Went shopping as Jelly conquered her issues with eating three square meals today. In laws were told not to bring her treats or try and feed her whilst with her. They were also dissuaded from taking her out in this biting cold. This all meant she ate the correct meals, at the correct times, better than she has done in weeks. So a treat was in order and i had none in. Went and got her 4 soya custard pots which she adores. Did the shopping of everything I could possible require and am now hiding all cards and my purse until the 12th of Feb which is the next acceptable day for spending
Today I am grateful for:
1. Jellytot and her new best buddy KT.
2. Amazing friends and surprises coming to the door
3. Having 4 days off and nothing to do but have fun

Are you safe in your apartment lilt? Should we form a money savvy mob to evict the pooheads?
Ali, I could recommend TSB first as they are not just for one year, I went with flex first and regret it. I filled it up, then filled up two Plus's and now that my flex has run out I had to scramble for a home for that 2.5k. Whereas, I would have had a home for that money for another few months.
Did anyone see the article about the american janitor who left 6mil in his will?0 -
