  • Good evening lilty and assorted thread friends.

I am saddened to read that your mummy has to go through yet more chemo and treatment. She is a brave and determined lady by the sound of it and I can see where you get your gutsy nature from. I wish her the very best for as many well days as possible so that you and jellytot can see her often.

My aunty has had so much chemo over the years we've lost count. She's far away in America so we don't see much of her. Her wife Susan is very supportive of her and I hope your mummy has a partner to look after her as well as Susan does Cathy.

How are your pain levels today? Please don't ignore your own health as we all care about you!

Good sleeps to all online chums!
With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!

  • Awwhh there is always love in this room :)

Hopeful you lovely creature, I have been reading your posts on other threads and thinking how fabulous you are sounding recently. You too are a very strong character :)

Mum has my dad, her husband of 29 years, and she also has 2 fantastic daughters (and a 3rd unmentionable one) and a fantastic son, each with amazing partners and grandchildren to spur her on.

Jelly is *special* to my parents. As they were both married previously, and mum had my sister, dad adopted a son who very rarely comes into contact and then had another with his ex wife, before they met each other when my brothers were early teens and my sister 8 years old. I, and my younger unmentionable sister are the result of their marriage, and for my dad especially, Jelly is the first *shared* grandchild they have. They have 3 other utterly fantastic grandkids, from my bro and sis, but Jelly is just that little piece of both of them. It is a joy for them to see not only me in her, but also each of themselves. :) She is a puzzle fitted together with the DNA pieces from everyone :)<3

So Jelly brightens up their lives, hence why we FaceTime most days and why pre-chemo mums treat is to buy an iPad mini on both wifi and cellular networks, with 128gb of space. It is the best she can find and whilst expensive will mean she can interact better with us (Mac Taylor included) than we have been able to previously. :)

She has a huge support network, as do I. And we have our extended networks, her with SW and her cancer chatroom & me on here.

As for my health... I don't mention it because it is going well, and I am not looking forward to the 10 steps back it will take over the next 3 days of work. I am prepping for it, and have relaxed and rested as much as possible over the last 4 days. I can tentatively say I am better now than I was a week ago, so very near to pre-op standards. Next week may show me the kick in from the nerve blocker and steroids, which should give me an improvement past my previous levels :) I just have to find my way through work.

So I don't mention it because it isn't a big part of my life and there is much going on like cookie baking and swinging and tantrums at dinnertime and a lovely hot shower listening to old music.. I am finding lots of good in my days... as always.

    Big hugs all xx

I understand about the 10 steps back when you go to work I see myself in you a lot, lovely to hear that your jelly is appreciated and also that families can be entwined even though they're not connected.

    Yay for family and friends.

  • Families are complicated things, but mine is a web of halves and steps... and the best thing of all is that adopted, step, half, unmentionable or otherwise, we are all brothers and sisters and there has never been a distinction.

Am piling my pics and all of my pdf's and spreadsheets across onto my mac. Another Aye in favour of Apple.... my spreadsheets are still opened in their substitute for excel, despite being formatted differently. And they are easily saved to the new format automatically. Everything is so... easy... *dreamy sigh*

    Off to sleep.

    Night lovely lovely people.

    Big hugs xx

Oh Lilty, It would have been nice to come back to your page with better news for your mum - so sorry she has to go through yet more long term treatment. Hope she has many well days during the chemo so you and Jelly can see her often.
