There's a site called white goods https://www.whitegoods.co.uk. That has excellent advice on brands
And another site called hukd that tells you all the latest bargains
    https://www.hotukdeals.com

I was not disputing they were criminals, just wondering what offences they were commiting. As far as I know there is no offence of selling something at a higher price than someone else.

OP seemed to make quite a lot of the fact they could buy the item cheaper elsewhere.

But targeting vulnerable elderly people, when you are an un discharged bankrupt is . It's financial abuse.-quote from the court case-

"One 83 year old consumer agreed to a visit from a salesman of the company Mobility UK Limited trading after a sales pitch of over 3 hours, reluctantly agreed to sign up and paid a deposit of £2000."

    What was the actual offence?
Being expensive is not illegal, otherwise most "designer" brands would be out of business.

Jimmy choos don't come knocking on your door, give you a three hour sales pitch and pressure you to buy them..

That's why it's so very important that elderly consumers who get tricked to buy in their own home have very good protection from criminals. The mental distress they are being caused deserves to be taken very seriously.
  • There are some videos on youtube that Matt Alwight BBC rogue Tracders did, one bloke sold a guy a 3 grand scooter, for 7 grand, and he died a few days later and they refused a refund!
  • And thanks for those sites! If you are on Facebook, make sure you are signed up to tenways page. I have saved so much money with the glitches they find. Last week i went to Tesco, got 2 finish dishwasher cleaners, and one finish rinse aid, the promo was wrong on the shelf edge ticket, so with the DTD they paid me £7.40! Its similar to HUKD, you will find out about the 1p deals, i will never forget the boxes o:Tf crackers!

Don't take any notice of Scrootum. He's had umpteen user names on Money Saving Expert and every one of them barring this one have been banned. He hates consumers with a passion and likes to make inflammatory remarks in the hope of getting a response. A typical troll in other words.

Not sure where you got that from, but it does appear that just selling at a high price was not treated as an offence in this case, the dishonesty was though. Which was sort of the point I asked about.
  • Yeah, its no a major thing to worry about. We are all grown ups, and a very great man has died
