iPhone vs Samsung Galaxy S4 mini

Hi guys,
Just after a bit of advice really...
My mobile phone contract is up in January and I can upgrade my phone anytime from now.
I currently have an iPhone 4 and was hoping to upgrade to the iPhone 5/5s.
The iPhone 5 is no longer available apparently and to upgrade to the iPhone 5s I am either looking at a £52 pm contract with a free handset OR a slightly cheaper £38 pm with a one-off payment of £120...
Although I desperately want to stick with an iPhone, neither of the above options are suitable budget wise unfortunately
I was offered a deal for the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini - free handset and £28 per month. This is perfect however my only issue is the fact that the phone isn't an iPhone! Having had my iPhone for the past 12 months, I have fallen in love with it and I am now reluctant to give it up :rotfl:
There is of course the option of changing network providers however, having looked around, I haven't found an iPhone deal that's actually within my budget.
I guess I'm just after abit of advice really re. the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. Has anyone got one of these models? If so, how do you rate it? Has anyone ever switched from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy?
Thanks in advance!

S4 mini is nothing special. It is basic a low/mid end phone dressed up as a smaller version of the S4.
I would suggest looking at a better android phone or changing network to get a better deal on a 5S.
PS: CPW are doing S4 mini @ £17pm free handset! You can get a Nexus 5 from £26pm......This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Don't know about 'upgrading', but new customers can get 16Gb for as little as £0+£37 with Unltd+Unltd+1Gb: http://www.omio .com/deal/27222422/3?phone=1245que-sera-sera wrote: »...to upgrade to the iPhone 5s I am either looking at a £52 pm contract with a free handset OR a slightly cheaper £38 pm with a one-off payment of £120...
And I don't think that it's the best deal available.0 -

Now, go and have a look at the sim only deals for the same airtime, whats up with your current handset?
No phone is free, and if your current handset is serving you well, then stick with it.
Some prefer the Android, some prefer iOS, there is no hard and fast this one is better than the other, also there is another OS called Sailfish on the way :eek:0 -
Ive had many iphones and various Android phones. My favourite phone was my iphone 4 for its user friendliness but I'm currently using an S4 mini and a Nexus 5 and the Nexus 5 is awesome. The S4 mini is good but I like the vanilla Android of the Nexus0

How about sticking with the iPhone 4 and once the contract lock-in period has ended, downgrading to a 1 month rolling sim-only deal?
That way you are in a good position when newer models come out.0 -
You may as well get an older S2 instead of the S4 mini.
For £28 you can get an S4.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Have you shopped around OP? That is a terrible deal you are being offered. Get a feel of the market.0

The day punters stop stating a phone provided on a 24 month, restrictive contract is 'free' is the day posters like myself just may be getting through to people.
PS The Samsung S4 mini, like the S3 mini before it, is very very overpriced due to the cynical use of the S4 in the name. The Motorola Moto G 8GB can be picked up from Tesco for as little as £89 and has, arguably, better spec. Over the course of 24 months this upfront cost works out at £3.70/mth. That leaves you £24.30/mth to get a SIM deal with just a 30 day commitment (Three's One Plan offers 2,000 mins, 5,000 texts and completely unlimited data including tethering for £18/mth for instance). Don't fall for the marketing, OP.

I'm also using an iPhone 4 now. If you haven't enough budget and want to stick to the iPhone, why not move your eyes on iPhone 4s, or you can choose to wait for the next generation of iPhone comes out and iPhone 5s will drop its price.
It is looking like the 5 has been taken out of the equation deliberately to accommodate the 5c. But I think the 5c not really what a lot of people who were considering the 5 actually want so the option is to either look at 5s or android equivalent. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. S4 £28 easy.. Unlimited minutes, Unlimted texts 1GB data + WIFI. For that or maybe less.
