What kind of wireless stat is it?

Mine (digistat) displays the current room temp (as yours seems to) eg 19. If I turn it up to just one degree higher (20) then a flame appears on the display to indicate it is telling the boiler to start. When the flame comes on, I can hear the boiler start up.

Once the room temp reaches 20, the flame will disappear and I'll hear the boiler switch off. If I want it warmer, I can set it to 21 (bingo! Flame appears and boiler starts!). Setting it to 30 makes no difference - the flame will appear and boiler start (just as at 20 or 21), but it will never go off as it will never reach 30.

If this is not happening with yours I suspect a fault with the wireless stat, its receiver, or the boiler controls

Depends what you mean by 'it will never go off' - the 'flame on the wireless stat' or the boiler.

The boiler will switch off(stop firing) when the water temperature in the CH system reaches the temperature set on the boiler.

Correct. Sorry - not clear enough.

The point I wanted to get across to the OP was that when she turns the stat up/down
    a) she should see the flame come on/off and
    b) (assuming the receiver and boiler work) she should hear the boiler come on/off

If turning the stat up/down does NOT have that effect, there is a fault somewhere.
