Thanks JCL, #12 it is - the 2013 mfw thread has been a great motivation, so thanks for picking up the challenge in '14

I need some advice as would be keen to remain on the MFW list for 2914 but currently in the process of moving our mortgage to an offset product. In essence I won't be making overpayments but we will be adding each month to our offset savings account.

    Would this count?

Personally I hope to have mine paid off before then;) but if 2013 was anything to go by there are several with offset mortgages. Some do what you are suggesting.
As long as you can come up with a figure (target) that you can work to, possibly the amount you want to increase your offset balance by, then call it your op target.

Thanks JCL for the new thread
I would also like to rejoin, havent been on the mortgage threads much the past few months as someone is using it against me but I have decided to carry on regardless. It will be a bit more difficult for me next year with not as much money coming in so will have to set my target as £5k next year.

I have a 10% limit and my mortgage is just short of £30k :j (just made it under for the end of the year :)) so after I have used my limit (which ends August and restarts) I will put the rest in savings to do a bulk OP when the limit starts again. I only have £1800 of my limit left til August.

My term is now only 3 years and I have reached my second end goal target of Dec 16 :j :T
I am now hoping to be done in two years
    MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
EMFD was Feb 32  NOW Dec 2013 its Dec 2016
MF new target Dec 16 REACHED!! :j

Please put me down for £1200, we're remortgaging to cut 6 years off our term so it's unlikely to be higher.

Thanks for the number JCL - off to add it to my sig :D

I might not make any overpayments the first two months while I try to get rid of my £2k bank of Mum and Dad loan, but I'll start overpaying after that as I'll start saving at that point too for things we need to do with the house
  • Can I join please, will be taking out a new mortgage and want to overpay at least £2000 by end of year :D

  • Hi everyone, I would like to join in please :)

During 2013 I made £3,075 worth of overpayments, which is less than I hoped for but having lost my job due to health issues, I'm quite happy with it. I don't know when I will be able to start working again so I will try a target of £3,500 for 2014 please and see how I go. Thanks
Thank you to everyone who posts on here :)
