A Singularly Lonely Christmas

Ha..!........so how did you find the onesie then spirit? I am now the proud owner of 2 of them, but the first one is better for some reason.
I'm off to go to bed, hopefully without the added bonus of drums seeing as it's the weekend.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I decided I could quite happily work from home a couple of days a week, no phone calls to answer, no inane chatter or whingeing to listen to AND I made 4 granny squares for a blanket I'm making :T
I honestly can't decide about working from home...yes, there are all these benefits, but by the end of a day, my mood is usually fairly low, but in a different way to how low I feel about a day at work in the office. I suspect it is the lack of contact...and, in my case, boredom with my work. Once a week is really the maximum I want to do, though it will be useful and MUCH safer to do this when the weather turns bad.
I'm jealous of all the onesies...can I declassify them from clothes so I can get one but keep my new year's rezza? :rotfl:
I was up and about far earlier than I wanted to be, a bit of work stress getting in the way of a good night's sleep, so I'm a bit washed out. But I've ticked a couple of things off my list, and will have a cuppa before a wee tootle to the lottie. It's jerusalem (f)artichokes I'll be harvesting for my sunday (and every night next week) dinner. Those, brussel sprouts and cauli should ensure the UK stays pretty windy next week :rotfl:

I'm quite a happy in my own company person. Though on the other side of the coin I do like company. For me the company is my voluntary job and family. I can only cope with so much socialising. For instance it's our work meal out next month. I will enjoy the meal etc then I often feel that I want to be home. I can't cope with lots of people at once.
Yes, that's me, too. Happy to socialise, then all of a sudden I've had enough (even if I'm thoroughly enjoying it), and I just have to go home. It's almost like I have a "that's sufficient" switch. Not sure when that started or why really. Thought I was odd. Maybe we're both odd?0 -

I'm odd too then as I can do this. Along with spates where I want to socialise and go out loads, then go to a stage where I don't.

Before leaving my job I had a home working contract – my decision behind it was mainly due to the nature of the work I was doing and the open plan office we were based in. I just found the open plan office was not conducive to getting my head down and concentrating on writing reports. Then cutbacks, policy and procedural changes impacted on the whole atmosphere and moral within the office changed.
I think, regardless of how positive a person you are this will bring you down eventually.
Home working can be very isolating and yes there were days that I didn’t see or speak to a soul, but at that time it was preferable to the depressing atmosphere within the office.
If you can do on an informal basis then go for it, but sometimes even depressing company is better than none at all.

My (new) boiler stopped working (again) on New Years Eve. Switched the controls on and off several times, nothing. Fiddled with the thermostat, nothing. Decided to leave it for a while (not sure why I thought that would help..) Back to the controller in the airing cupboard and I spotted a white plastic square with a green button that I didn't remember being there before. Hmm, now a bit of a dilemma - to press the button or not to press? Having spent at least ten minutes with my finger hovering over it I decided to go for it  It worked! We had hot water and heating again :j I'm guessing it must be some sort of reset button, wish they'd told me about it when they installed the new boiler.
From an MSE point of view I saved I saved a days worth of heating costs :rotfl:
I left home at 17 and moved into a bedsit without a clue about anything. After a week I realised I needed an iron so went shopping. Stood in front of a display of irons a helpful young sales assistant came over and asked if he could help. Me "I'm looking for an iron", him "Dry or steam?", me "One that you plug in..."Even without much confidence, and a distinct lack of knowledge regarding all things DIY and technical, I've managed to get by (sort of), there's hope for us all

Had a lovely 10 hour sleep and so feeling a bit more refreshed today. Just having a coffee and perusing the net before I decide on the plan for todayLavenderBees wrote: »Yes, that's me, too.
