    That's so funny...:rotfl:

Thanks everyone for sharing their plans and hopes, I have the usual big ones, losing weight, walking more, but also have small ones, such as wearing perfume again, getting my hair done (as cheaply as possible, but done nonetheless)...I have kind of let myself go over the years, had forays into the make up but then give up, but a touch a mascara doesn't hurt anyone. I also want to deal with paperwork sooner rather than later, clearing up the kitchen *before* I go to bed, stretching my finances to their limit and having little outings to NT places as my dear FFF (;)) gave me a lovely Xmas gift of a NT membership which will make a huge difference to my year & being able to get out. It makes me smile every time I think of it. :A

My local friend has just called me to wish happy NY and we have both said we will be much more positive this year and make time for ourselves, so with that in mind we will go to HFW's RC canteen for mussels and chips in January.

    Hi all!! :j

I haven't time today to respond to all the posts, which all have fabulous inspirational things in them. I'll hopefully finish in the morning as the weather is probably going to be too yuk for cathartic beach walking and pebble throwing which I had planned...gosh...all those weeks ago now.

Who'd have thunk we'd get through this period, and, may I say, not in a shy way, but more, much more than this, we did it our way :rotfl:

    :D

Thank you for all your lovely posts, and Mrs Lurcherworker has summed up the wonderful spirit of this thread really well.:T

I've spent this morning on the simple things in life that make me content - been in touch with main Far Flung Friend, played battery ball with youngest cat, (quite simply the most fabulous game ever invented :p), have made the best soup I have ever tasted (chicken noodle as I could make that up and use what I had in), and I now have a tidy living room and no ironing waiting to go into 2014...very important, that :rotfl:

Whilst my own list of resolutions for 2014 look quite frightening , quite simply my aim is contentment. To achieve that, I need to continue to build on what we've started here - continue to build new and old friendships, get out a little bit more, build as solid a future as I can to survive this changeable and often cruel and thoughtless world, and most importantly kiss the bad and hurtful things that upset me from 2013 goodbye.

Just an hour ago, I decided to cry off tonight's low key celebrations. People would understand, I'm sure. But while I've been ironing, I was listening to You and Yours on R4...and that convinced me again that community, being sociable and making an effort are what is needed to keep my own progress going. It's well worth a listen on iplayer, and very much in keeping with the theme of this thread.

So, my lovely friends, I'm going to have a shower, and get ready to go out. I am meeting a friend for the winter carnival parade in Newcastle, and then going onto meet some of my walking group for a meal. As I am feeling emotionally fragile today, I will be home before midnight to greet the new year on my own, and then I hope to sleep well.

Whatever you are doing this evening, I hope you have a lovely and peaceful time. See you in the morning.

Happy New Year to you all

    LB xx

ETA I have just laughed my socks off at the comments posted while I was typing. I am starting to get worried what kind of community we are building here :rotfl:
