A Singularly Lonely Christmas

I’ve just caught up with the thread having been a bit off colour for a couple of days. It’s nice to see so many positive things coming through.
I received a calendar in the post today with lots of those inspiring little quotes in it and thought I would share some that struck a chord with me
“Change is a process, not an event”
“Don’t follow your dreams – Chase them”
“We don’t know how strong we are until being strong is the only choice we have”
Like others I have been doing a bit of forward planning today, doing some research on the meetup groups and other activities going on in my area that I fancy getting involved in.
I will be setting myself some (short and long term) goals for the year, but at the moment I’m focussing more on good habits just because I have been wavering off the OS way of late.
In fact started today working through some of the stuff that seems to get overlooked in the fridge so rather than waste it I focussed on the tub of mascarpone – I did have pasta in tomato and mascarpone sauce the other day but a singleton can’t get through a whole tub that way – aint the internet wonderful – I found a recipe for mascarpone ice cream and if that weren’t calorific enough I thought I would ripple in the half jar of hm lemon curd also lurking in the fridge – LB/Calicocat I’m aware how partial you both are of ice cream – if I could get some to you I would - cause although not set yet it's delish.
oh, oh, oh.....orgasmic sounding ice cream :rotfl: You don't live too far away...you're still in the UK aren't you?!! Why can't we get some???
Lovely inspirational quotes - I've made a note of them in the front of my note book to keep me inspired
Glad you're feeling better!

Another ideal business opportunity.....
That ice-cream sounds lovely, I made some lemon curd the other week. Brown bread ice-cream is lovely too (HM) . I wouldn't dare get an ice-cream maker...or make it by hand.
Re:...loo. i'm ok as bathroom has heated towel rail and is warmest room in house as you can't switch those off.
Having soup (HM chicken and sweetcorn) as ate enough calories in the mac-cheese.
How hilarious...i'm having several little conversations about onesies....you would think I had invented them.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
More positives for tonight -
A friend in my casual acquaintance circle has contacted me to meet up for the winter carnival in Newcastle tomorrow afternoon, so I'll have company for ooohing and aaahing at the sights tomorrow :T
I've arranged with Far flung Friend (not main Far Flung Friend, the other one...please keep up!) to visit her at Easter weekend :T
I'm also about to contact main Far Flung Friend to see is I can pencil in a visit to her later in the year... :T0 -

Thanks for inadvertent suggestion for my chicken stock - I have lots of chicken left from stripping the carcasses, so will make chicken and sweetcorn tomorrow. Different to what I'd normally make, so good, good, good! it's good to try new stuff..!
Have you checked your phone recently for texts?I'd hate to drag you away from your discussions on onesies

Pretty soon you are going to need a PA to sort out the social diary...
It's always nice to have something in the future to look forward to, something that you know you are doing so on less good days there is something out there. Clap hands face...cant work out on this phone how to do it.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Gawd! I'm shattered! I have my new years rezzas sorted, and know where I'm heading...and have planned my first week's activities to achieve "stuff" from 04th Jan to 12th Jan....
Key resolutions (...actually could call them killer resolutions) have been influenced by some of the Debt Free Wannabee boards. I've worked really hard not to have debt, BUT having depleted my rainy day savings unexpectedly this year (by unexpectedly having rainy days practically all year), I really need to get working on my savings - so my killer resolutions include -
1. An absolute maximum spend per month REGARDLESS of what happens, so if I spend more on diesel, it means less available for food, more on vets fees, less available for hairdresser etc etc. That's me stressing about not being able to visit the hairdresser because I wanted a train ticket
2. No clothes buying all year - if l lose weight, then I have all the clothes I need for work and my wee social outings. No onesie then...:rotfl:
3. No buying anything sweet (chocolate, biscuits, ice cream except in a cone from a van..) all year. I can use what I already have in, but once it's gone...it's gone....I never had a sweet tooth, but this year, I've been comfort eating so badly. That will stop. At the moment, I'm not even enjoying the chocolate I had. I'll keep all the chocolate, and just have a little now and again. That way, I save money, lose weight and enjoy chocolate again when I do have some.
4. No buying alcohol all year. Again, this bad year has had me comfort drinking...not excessively but defnitely too often. I need to get back on track. Again, I can use up what I have in, but not buy any more. I haven't worked out what I've spent this year on alcohol, but it must be a fair bit over the year. It's an easy way to save some money each month.
5. Studying - this really is the killer one, and the one most likely to be abandoned after a week :rotfl: - 3 evenings a week without fail....
6. Sort my will asap and a living will, too in case I am ever incapacitated...
7. Stop whinging about work...doubt that will get past first 5 minutes back at work on Thursday, but I will try very very very hard ...:A
Nicer Resolutions are -
1. Allotment planning/working
2. CHICKENS!! :T
3. Walking - with walking group/friends/on own - beaches/countryside/NT Properties. At least one walk of 6 miles or more twice a month. Once lottie season kicks in, weekends will be spent there, but will do my best to walk as much as poss. Perhaps on lunch breaks...
4. Keep in touch with old and new friends. Make an effort!! Find ways to socialise that don't cost (much) money or encourage eating/drinking!
5. Visit Far Flung Friends and encourage visits to me
6. Doubt can fit in any meetups/new classes etc, but keep them at the back of mind in case need to give self kick up the aris to get more of a life.
You see....am knackered, and haven't started yet :rotfl:
Sleep well, y'all.
