A Singularly Lonely Christmas

I'm sitting here in tears at the moment. Another Far Flung Friend, who rang me yesterday, to whom I only admitted the depth of my loneliness and sadness a few weeks ago, has sent me an extra card with a cheque in it to enable me to book a train ticket down to hers in the springtime.
TBH, it isn't the money, it's the fact that she wants me to visit her that is so lovely. I've tried to ring her but have had to leave messages. Probably a good thing as it's not easy to speak when I'm crying.
Both my lovely far flung friends have done me so proud - I spent hours on Boxing Day evening opening little parcels from main Far Flung Friend. She has been the most fantastic support this whole year, and continued that into Christmas. Every parcel referred back to a conversation we'd had or a reminder of my visit after my Dad died, or linked to a hobby of mine, or encouraged me to relax and pamper. I have never received such thoughtful parcels, and to top it all, she hopes to visit me in May.
And now other far flung friend has asked me to visit her.
I am very blessed.
:A
that's really sweet LB.
And so true what venetianlagoon (what a lovely moniker) says.

I'm back from a wild windy and wet walk...can I borrow your Onesie, Calicocat - what did you get? I predict a tiger...:rotfl: (good bargaining, btw)
Just realised one of my favouritist in the whole world films is on, Wall-E. So that's me in my PJs slobbing for the rest of the afternoon :T
I've been thinking....yep, the smell of burning wasn't from roasting the chicken carcasses in my still unscrubbed oven, it was me thinking....
Am now fortifying myself with some of the chicken from said carcasses...bloomin lush...roast chicken and mayo sarnies...nectar form the gods...:rotfl:
Anyway, I digress....One of the pressies main Far Flung Friend sent me is a lovely note book, and I was wondering how best to use it, and now I've decided. I was reading a thread this morning (instead of doing housework ), about using diaries/notebooks etc to organise yourself. I'm pretty organised anyway, sometimes too much so that I forget what spontaneous means, but one thing I know about myself is that I work best/achieve more, when I have a written down plan.
So, I'm going to write me down some goals to achieve next year, then, on separate pages, I will break those goals down into smaller steps for each month, and then each week, I will look to see what I want to be achieving, record what I achieved the week before/what I didn't achieve (and more importantly why), and by the end of 2014, I should be pretty knackered but content with what I've achieved.
It's a plan...now...what do I want to achieve? :rotfl:0 -
Calicocat - I am so wondering how Asbo might react to a furry onesie... :rotfl:
LB - echo wholeheartedly what venetianlagoon said. :T0 -
Ive got a big book that I could use as a diary, I was also thinking of writing down stuff I want to do in 2014, my plans for world domination if you like.
Not exactly world domination, but my plans for next year so far are
1 Lose the remaining 10kg that seems to be stuck to my bottom
2 Finish my gym instructor level 2 course (I got two finished this year, kids and nutrition, passed them both, well pleased), am already booked on to finish my gym course, had to put it on hold when I broke my tailbone
3 Continue with lifting weights, les mills grit classes and thump boxing classes
4 Do more exercise classes at night as a participant, may wait till the lighter nights for that, Im very much a morning exerciser these days
5 Try and get the cat sitting business off the ground
6 Keep going with trying to live frugally
7 Go out a couple of times a month, am still not sure what meet up group Im going to stick with in the end, but Im going to try and go to two meet ups a month, thats enough for me, gets me out, but I also like a weekend in as well
8 Eat healthily, its going well, but the test will be when I hit any blips as generally that and exercise is the first thing to go
9 Recycle more clothes that I really wont wear again
10 Drink more gin (oops)
11 Have a massage a month, my body is in tatters after spending 4 years teaching classes and the local college does a £5 massage, so Im going to book one of them every month and hopefully my sore knotty bits will disappear.
I always have thoughts about doing another half marathon but I can still remember the pain in my legs from the one and only one I did 15 years ago so thats maybe a no0 -
Hehehe......I didn't get an animal, I figured at 48 i'd look even more stupid, so went for just a normal one with a pattern on it. although the Next bunny ones were quite funny...I resisted though.
Totally get one people!! You are much warmer, cant believe the difference..! I'm going to get another one next week...one of the fluffy fleece ones for when the weather is worse. the one I got isn't a fluffy one.....you gotta ease yourself into these things you know.
I've never had a career plan or path either much to my mothers irritation. It just never came...that burning desire to be a *****, plus I would change my mind like the wind.
Re: diary plan
Chickens....the running around type.
Chicken sitter.
Buy a onesie...or two.!!....not really an achievement granted...but it does take some guts at our age.
I had a bit of a read of that thread too this morning but my brain drifted off...so it can't be for me. Every year I do put in the front of my diary things I want to get done within a year...usually the lose weight, save xxx for whatever, change Will etc, and a few things to do that I know I will try and avoid. I usually hit most of them.
This year I shall have fling money at mortgage but I have a 10% clause, and force LB to show me how to grow things in my garden in the spring....or whenever you are meant to do it.
I'll wait until it gets a bit darker to get bin in, people here don't venture outside in their PJ's....never mind a onesie.
To hell with it, i'll go get it now.....lolYep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

Just in from work and now have my onsie on
Heating has been off all day so just put that on.
LB It is a bit wild out there although not so wet here. That is lovely of your friend to send you the money to go down. Something to look forward to.Im not one to write down what I want to achieve. More of a go with the flow and see what the universe sends.
Last year I was out and about quite a lot. Various free festivals in town. I won tickets to see Sinead O' Connor and authors often ave events on.
The thing I really want to do is shift some weight. So do have an idea about that.
Calicocat Glad you like your onsie.
Desperate Housewife That was kind of you to invite the old lady.
Im sure I wanted to say something else but it's gone.0 -
Where do you get fluffy fleecy onesies?
I've switched my heating off anyway, is positively tropical today, or that may just be my internal combustion...
My exercise plan will be more along the lines of long walks and beach walks. Far too much "real exercise" in your plan, Paulineb
Glad you mentioned wills, Calicocat, mine needs changing completely. The sooner the better...not that I'm expecting to be going anywhere anytime soon, but one never knows...
Definitely will help you plan your garden etc, in exchange for an ice cream and a lounge in the sun. I'm very very good at delegating the grot jobs..:rotfl:
Anyone know where I've put my pen....?0 -

Yes, the Will was something I got sorted straight away after my dad died as there was going to be some inheritance coming my way, and when you have a family that is fractured as mine is, it was important to me that I have things very definitely in place to go where and to whom I wanted to stop any arguments etc.
Especially being single it needed sorting, plus mine was from years ago and an ex would have got it rather than my family and friends.
Back door is wide open as too hot now.
The fluffy fleecy ones are made of that stuff that soft toys are made of (don't know what the material is actually called)...and you can get them in Asda and various other places. Asda had one in bright purple.....kinda reminded me of the purple telly-tubby....?!?
Also primark will have them I would imagine..and probably loads of other places too I just haven't really looked before.
Paulineb will possibly know.

Cheap n cheerful will do me....
