AOL member - may / may not be able to get TalkTalk fibre

I've been an AOL customer for almost 11yrs and as AOL do not offer fibre I have been checking around for fibre.
I can get fibre through SKY, BT, EE and Plusnet (and others) but as a long standing member of AOL, owned by TT, I thought I'd get a good good deal if I went with TalkTalk.
I have been checking their website for months to see if I can get their fibre. Using their checker with my postcode realises a message saying I cannot get it.
Yesterday I had reason to call AOL and the CS rep asked if I was interested in fibre via TalkTalk. I said I had been looking into this for months and according to the website, cannot receive it. The rep checked her system and said I could. She'll be calling me tomorrow (Mon 2nd Dec) to offer me a deal.
I wait in anticipation!

Postcode checkers are not accurate. Use the number checker on the BT OR site.
But since TT FTTC is simply a resold BT Wholesale product, then as long as you are on a TT LLU'd exchange, you should be able to get FTTC from them if your local cab has been enabled (which it must have been if other suppliers can offer it).No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for the post macman.
I have a teenager who moans about our current broadband speed (3.5mbs) so it would be good to increase it.
I'll post back after AOL(TT) call me tommorrow.0 -

Please do keep us updated.
My only current concern is that I currently use desktop ethernet connected upstairs back of house and master socket is downstairs at front.
I would have to install wireless card or use a usb one but would prefer to stay ethernet connected.0 -

Looks a good deal.......so they are giving you free line rental for 12 months then the deal price for 6 months...but what will it go up to after the 18 months??:) Remember escaping from a full LLU deal with TalkTalk can be problematic even after the minimum term is up!0 -
brewerdave, I'd be paying £33.40 after the contract ends, however, I have ben advised to call them before the 18th month.
So I ordered last night over the phone and received a confirmation email immediately, which included the deal agreed.
Today I received a call from TalkTalk confirming the order backed up with an email, again with the deal agreed.
Live date is 18th December!0 -
Chased up my welcome pack. Was told I cannot get fibre.

When the TalkTalk order went pair-shaped I emailed their CEO.
In the meantine, last Weds I called and signed up with Plusnet. A day later I received a text from them advising me my landline number would be different so I tried calling them.
When I called I was advised of a 45 minute wait - no way would I tolerate that going forward, so I called Friday 13th and received another messaage that there would be another 45 minute wait - anyway when i got through I cancelled.
Not sure what to make of Plusnet at all. I received a letter to my address saying a customer was moving to my address and they want to use the landline. Plusnet must have made a big mistake with the order! Glad I cancelled.
In the meantime the CEO at TalkTalk repleid to my email and passed my concerns to one of her office managers to help. He called me Friday 13th, and has promised to sort out fibre etc himself and provide the discounts I receive with AOL.
Mon 16th Dec, had an email from the CEO's Office Manager and he is on with things. It'll be the New Year but fingers crossed.0 -
Good luck. A few weeks ago BT and TalkTalk site said I could get fibre but now says Dec/January so will see what the new year brings.rwalton159 wrote: »I have been offered:

I've always been reluctant to move line rental in case I wish to switch to another ISP although I hate BT with their constant price rises which makes their bills always complicated. Although no-one offers a new broadband deal without line rental these days.
I currently have anytime calls included but don't use a lot so won't mind if I lose it but would still want to use 18185.brewerdave wrote: »Remember escaping from a full LLU deal with TalkTalk can be problematic even after the minimum term is up!
