I signed up for this offer as well. First they tried to charge me £11 immediately. I complained by phone and they apologised. After three weeks I rang to cancel as there is virtually no signal where I live (I had signed up to check as their coverage map says 'good service'!) I was told I could not leave without paying a termination fee. I've complained again - by email this time - and await their reply.

What a bunch of (fill in the gap)!
It must be true, I read it on Wikipedia

Well, after complaint through their Facebook site, I did get the SIM reactivated but when I try it in the iPhone, it says there is no data provisioned, so useless. Called EE and they said I had to reset the iPhone to pick up the data settings. I did and it made no difference. I'll probably not spend any more time on it. 5GB data trial would have been ace... shame.

The SIM charge was indeed refunded so it's cost me nothing but time.

On the other hand, picked up one of EE's 4G mifi units as our office broadband failed and it's fantastic - faster than our regular broadband, actually. 4 of us have been working all day, all cloud-based, and used under 0.5GB (of the 6GB that come with it).

Apparently when I complained about being charged for the first month someone accidentally put me on the wrong (non-cancellable) tariff! It took a couple more calls but I have now managed to cancel with no penalty.

  • This con trick cost me £50+. I signed up through the MSE website (which I will never trust again).
EE immediately direct debited £11. I had a series of problems trying to get email to work - my 'account webpage', for some reason said calls, texts etc was included so I believed it at first; but then next month's DD was over £30 and now I have been charged another £11 for 1 month cancellation. I sent letter to EE with screen print of my account page.

    EE letter in reply:
" ... your account does not include calls ... Amazon voucher or first month free ... based on information provided by a third party website, you would need to check the offer with them. ... may have been an error on (that MSE) website"

Nice one MSE. Tried to find MSE email address to raise query direct with MSE; but, if there is one it is well hidden.
