My husband is so grumpy right now - made him help me get some more stuff out of the loft about an hour ago - cue face on. Pulled down suitcase containing 3 pairs kids old curtains - Dunelm, fully blackout lined, heavy etc. "old curtains?!" Says he of no vision "who do you think is going to buy your tatty old curtains?" NB they are so not tatty - damn good quality! I am now sat here whispering words like "ha" and "I told you" every few minutes after I stuck pics on fb and was offered £25 for all 3 pairs within 10 minutes. He doesn't seem to be speaking to me...

vjacx, something else I just discovered which is very relevant when listing items at only 99p is that that they now also charge you a fee on the money received that's meant to cover postage (and that it's against their rules to inflate the postage price to cover that additional cost). Check out Martin's article on it here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/shopping/2013/09/ebay-sellers-beware-its-fees-now-eat-into-postage-costs. Unfortunately I had been oblivious about this until yesterday and it cost me recently as I listed an item for 99p and only received the one bid, the postage was £13 so I ended up paying more than £1.40 in fee's and made a loss  my own fault for not reading the information when they no doubt emailed users :(

Thanks for that - I'm going to re-look at my postage costs!!!

Haven't anything to add for today yet, but expecting a friend to collect and pay for fb stuff later tonight. However I have the bestest news (well in my world anyway) that my popla appeal against a parking charge was successful! I was so scared when I saw the email pop up this afternoon - because either they had upheld my appeal and the charge will be written off or they could have upheld the charge and then I'd be paying out £100 3 weeks before Xmas :-/ so I am very very happy! This had been dragging on since it was issued in July.

On a DFW/money saving note would like others opinions - my kids have school dinners in winter as I like to know they had hot meal in the day when it's cold etc etc, they have really moaned this year and I've agreed that after Xmas they can have packed lunches - my question is what's the cheapest option? What have people found better value for money? School dinners are £2 a day here - that's £20 a week for 2 kids who generally moan about them and come home STARVING!!! I'm thinking if I'm careful I can do decent filling lunches for about the same?

Hi, the grocery challenge in the old style part of this forum has been really useful for me in getting my shopping costs down, I haven't worked out how much packed lunches cost but I'm just trying to think of some things I have done to keep costs down, I don't do some of these things now because I'm pushed for time:

Made hm flapjacks to go in there -- really, really cheap.

    Made other hm cakes.

    Bought YS bread to use

Some people make up sandwiches and freeze

I buy 2 packs of cooked meat from Sains for £1, seems to permanently be on offer, down from 70p each.

My girls also like sausage rolls, chicken skewers or chicken drumsticks with salad, that works out v cheap I think.

Cereal bars from 99p Store or on offer.

Fruit from Aldi Super Six where possible :)

    Water to drink x

Also, I did get snacks/crisps from Approved Foods before now, I know that's not brilliant when it comes to nutrition!

I've added £23.74 today, made up of nectr points added to my account and a fb sale.

PS well done on the parking, what a relief, I appealed last year and won, found it very stressful.
