Hi everyone! I received my bento bits from Japan the other day, super fast delivery! Waiting on one more parcel... (done 3 in total sshh...) Made my first bento for dd and dh a couple of days ago and dd ate it all!
Dh laughed when he saw his bento lunch! Took it to work and apparently his work mates commented on it, as he wants something like that for his kids! Lol! Ok, i want to post pics but how do i do it? Never posted pics before... HELP!

It went a little brown at the skin, and I thought it was ruined, but my daughter ate it a good few hours after I'd cut it and it was near perfect inside. Well impressed!
YAY! My 1st pic! Thank you mumoftwo! This is dd bento of 2 mini cucumber tortilla wraps, left over roast potato made into funny faces with flower carrot hair! Some cucumber bits on picks, butterfly potatoes, some gammon strips and for her treat, rainbow drop rice puffs with a rabbit and bear tortilla faces!
Oh wow, how cute is that!0 -
I love this website!!!
I have discovered xmas eve hampers, hampers in general, homemade goodies (strawberry vodka, toffee vodka, lemon curd...the list goes on) and now BENTO BOXES!!!!!! Am so excited about this! My poor son (age 6) has the most boring lunches...not any more!!!!!!!!
I am almost positive I saw a bento box in Poundland the other day and wondered what it was! It was similar to the Aladdin one. I am going back there tomorrow so I'll let you know if it is a bento box.
Ordered some bits off ebay - the japanese seller as recommended by someone. My son will have a lovely suprise in his lunch box!!!!
Thanks for all the ideas!Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas."

Just made dd's snack box for tomorrow! Japanese rice crackers, strawberries on pick, shrimp chips, rainbow puffs, hello kitty shape carrots, car bento egg! (1st time and they came out so well! Really pleased with the moulds!) plus under that is a cucumber tortilla wrap!0 -
This is dh's lunch for tomorrow. Steamed chicken bun, red bean paste bun, mixed salad with carrot and cucumber butterflies and flowers with a small bottle of french dressing and a fish boiled egg! He also has a salami tortilla wrap, shrimp chips and strawberries on picks.
I am really enjoying making these and my kids loves it especially dd!0 -
This is my little 18 months old ds snack box! I didn't want him to feel left out! LOL! Although he eats everything in sight and wouldn't care less if it was a car or hello kitty themed bento!! This is a lego snack box with some shrimp chips in one and carrot rings in the other! x0 -
Ami, those bento boxes you made are super! Well done you. Loving your pictures, you are very creative.
Pinkflop, welcome to the Bento madness, be careful, it soon becomes very addictive. There are many Bento blogs out there for inspiration and ofcourse this thread
Have a go, your son will love you for it. (and don't forget to post a picture, so we can all have a nosey)
this is the seller I bought from who was super fast: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190437685176
although I didn't get a free gift like Ami though0 -

I think it was because i've done more than 1 order with that seller? Or maybe he is keeping me sweet so i keep on spending loads...
I def agree with you mumoftwo, pinkflop it will become addictive... i even dream bento! I am thinking about tomorrow's bento lunches already and my dh has only left for work with today's lunch! I think i will be making teriyaki chicken with rice for dinner tonight and the left overs will be for dh and dd's lunch tomorrow. Found the recipe in the new bento book i've just received and it's so simple!
I am just waiting on one more parcel before i will be making some sushi rolls! I want to make these chick faces - http://notabrownbag.wordpress.com/page/2/ dd has already requested a Cinderella bento... i think that's a bit too much for me! Also, has anyone made omelette rolls before? Can we get the rectangle pan in the UK? Found some on ebay but was hoping for something cheaper locally. x0
