hi AB me again lol. well the bentoing (is that a word) is still going down a storm here shopping is a lot more fun now as me & dd look for different things to put in hers, am even using my time and cooker with better use e.g cooking a couple of chicken drumsticks alongside dinner or some pizza ready for her bento the next day.
if you remember the initial shock of how tiny the box was lol dd says she does feel full after her lunch and is having a lot more variety too..she loves onigiri although i think i went a bit nuts with the red dye lol...her friends want to see what she's got each day and wet themselves when they see the cheese and stuff i've used the mini cutters on (star/heart/flower/bird/plane/car/carrot) and she has had comments of ''oh wish my mum would do that'' and these are 15 year old girls lol.
am gonna try mini octo dogs soon and some other fancy bits when i've got a free weekend to play.keep coming with the ideas they are great and inspirational

  • I'm back on the bento wagon again after a break for Christmas. My waist line demands I go back to packing bento :D

    How is everyone else doing?
  • Ok I've not read through the whole thread so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed but can someone basically explain to me what bento is? I've seen the boxes but can you explain what sort of thing you'd put in? (preferably some veggie examples) and how its healthier than a regular packed lunch?
    Thanks x

My bento has included, cheese and tomato wraps, rolled and cut diagonally, some grapes, some crisps, some rice in a ball or shaped, some hardboiled eggs in pig or kittie shapes (bought the moulds off ebay), some curry, some hot dog sausages, you could use veg sausages....anything really just a little bit of each packed into your Bento box.

I've had mini meatloaf this week among other things. I need to get back into a routine though. It;s alarmingly easy to go back to the boring old sarnie, crisps and drink lunch. Not overly good in my case either!
