Fellow beauty mouth followers and other people on here that use exfoliating toners, what was your experience when you first started using them?

I started using the REN AHA exfoliating toner (can't remember full name) a couple of weeks ago and since then I have started to get some really sore spots under the skin. I used to have acne but my skin has been really clear for the past 6 months or so. The only thing I have changed is starting to use the REN. I am wondering whether it is because all the gunk in my skin is coming to the surface (nice!) and that my skin will then clear up again?

Don't know what to do! I am very unhappy about having acne again after battling with it for over 13 years!!

I have been using the Alpha H stuff twice a week for about 18 months but haven't had any sort of reaction to it, are you using the REN everyday?

    Welcome Pirateyqueen.

A couple of days ago someone was asking about the Naked palettes and which people preferred, I have 1 & 2 and lean a bit more towards the 2 because the tones are cooler, I still love the first one though.

  • Seems to be an incredibly slow month in terms of UUs for me too, I finally finished up a Garnier Pure 3 in 1 Face Wash / Mask 150ml that has been hanging around and on my Pan list for a while. Seems at this rate most of my other Pan items will survive well into next month too.

I also had a little blip and caved in on the BS Ginger Sparkle that I had been trying to avoid for a couple of weeks. I just love the smell and felt compelled to buy something, so I bought a little gift set with the small Body Butter and Shower Gel as a Christmas Present to myself. I have since showered and smothered myself in gingery loveliness.

My skin is dryish and can be super sensitive, fortunately have never had spots to contend with.

I (when I remember) use the Alpha H Liquid Gold two or three times a week, starting off with it on damp cotton wool - no problems.

Clarins Brightening Exfoliating Toner once daily in the morning, followed by a spritz of the Liz Earle or Body Shop Aloe Hydrating toner (I am an oldie and need the hydration). Again no problems. I did wonder about trying to get the Pixie one in the new year when I will run out of Clarins, but perhaps I should just stick with what I know works ATM?

I think I might have read something on beauty mouth blog a little while ago about new products and break outs but, whether it was info. from Caroline or comments from posters I am not sure. Good luck I hope you sort it soon.

Thanks maddiemay and suzitiger. I know I'm probably just being over sensitive today, but this is one of the reasons I have never felt able to post my entire stash. My family know about my stash as it has been ever present since my late teens........... :o

My nail polish collection is a similar size to yours too maddiemay - I belong to another forum for nail polish addicts (NPAA which began as a thread on MSE) which you are welcome to join if you are so inclined. Just PM me if you are interested and I'll forward you the details.

    :A

Well done on resisting the bargain sets. I am a member of NPAA, although I do not drop in very often, (same user name as here), I don't do nail art and find it better not to see all the lovelies that are coming out, some amazing indies. Health problems mean that my nails are often rubbish and I am trying really hard ATM to use my polishes more often. Sitting here with the polish taken off right hand, better get off and do the left one!!

My LilyLolo mineral samples have just arrived. amazingly quick delivery, hopefully one of them will suit me, would be happy to blend two together if necessary.

I know the feeling. Other than the sachets, I don't even seem to be making a dent in the stuff on my Project Pan list. The shampoo is neverending, I haven't started on the conditioner yet and I think the face wipes are irritating my skin too. Still, at least I'm using it albeit slowly!

Never mind, at least you've used it already and it sounds as though you enjoyed it. :)

Thanks maddiemay, I did wonder if you were a member but I haven't been on NPAA for a while myself. My left thumb nail keeps splitting and is really short at the moment. It just doesn't seem to be growing so I'm feeling a bit disheartened. I might paint my nails later to cheer myself up though as I've just bought a couple of Hard Candy polishes on Amazon. :)

    Hi ladies,

    Welcome pirateyqueen.

Am just bobbing on to report another UU - the bottle of Cutex nail polish remover has now gone. As I mentioned yesterday though I've already bought a replacement of this HG product of mine. Have found that Wilkinsons sell it for only £1.99 so prefer to buy it when I'm in there.

    Take care everyone. xx
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

The directions I read on the REN website say you can either use it every day for a week and then have 2 weeks off before using again, or use every other night. I used it everyday for a week and then stopped. I couldn't feel it working on my skin either. I don't have sensitive skin usually, just acne prone. It must be this that has caused it. I woke up this morning with even more spots :( not happy.

Enjoy your bath getting-there-slowly. I love Sanctuary stuff too. I sometimes miss my long soaks in the bath - I used to spend ages in there reading a magazine. I just shower all the time now as it means I can wash my hair at the same time.

Sorry to hear that KT2802. It sounds as though you need to give that product a wide berth for a while. I hope your skin settles down again soon.

I've just had a nice long shower but still no use ups to report. The Calvin Klein lotion is spluttering though and I have one more application left in the Nivea Visage Q10 sachet.

  • Hello!!

Hope you are all well, just popping in quickly to report a UU :j

Johnson's Cotton buds - 200 WBA, this is a HG. I have a little one in the stores though so will be using that first
