Which Mattress to buy?

Options
My wife and I are currently over heating with our memory foam mattress which I bought at a premium in 2009 which is subsequently causing us sleeping problems - waking up at night, tossing and turning and also causing me back pain!

We are looking for a new mattress, one that will be for long term, prevent us from over heating and will give us adequate support and restful sleep.

Any recommendations on mattress's/websites?

Thanks!

  • Kingsize and we don't really have a budget as such if it means we have a long term investment in a comfortable mattress...

I would of thought medium would be suitable for both of us (weights - 9.5 stone and 12.5 stone)

Are you able to get to a bed showroom and try some out? Might be the best way.

I got my mattress - which I find to be really comfortable - from Dunelm, it's a regular mattress but topped with memory foam. Obviously you may not find it suitable!

I love my http://www.vispring.co.uk mattress. Cost a lot but worth every penny. You can even get a proper (not zip linked) king size with different firmnesses on each side. I think we got ours from Furniture village a few years ago, but they were very helpful. John Lewis also sell them, so that might be a good place to start.

Have a look at this company (hope the link works ok)

    http://www.factory-beds-direct.co.uk/

it contains a lot of information and the company have very good reviews on line.

I have no connection with the company but have been researching mattresses and this company were recommended to me.

Do have a good look around the site; well worth it in my opinion

    Thanks for the responses.

The vi-spring range looks pretty good however JL sell them for as expensive as £3200+

I am sure an equivalent could be found at half price but just not sold by JL?

How does a mattress justify this cost?

Natural fillings, loads of springs, craftsmanship by hand. etc..

    Oh and the expensive factor.

Would Rolex have the same appeal if you could pick one up for £99? I think not.

This is a cracking mattress made a company who supply John Lewis and Next with some of their own label brands.

How does the restus-cystal compare to the mattresses on http://www.factory-beds-direct.co.uk/

I was inclined to go for one off factory-beds after reading on their site due to the guarantee they supply, advise and what it seems great mattresses...

  • I tried a Sleepeezee Cool Comfort 2000 mattress in a shop today and really liked it. It is designed so you don't overheat so might be good for you! It felt very supportive without being too firm - everyone has different preferences though. The best way it to try one yourself. Not that you can test how hot it gets in a showroom though. That's why you might want to go for one especially designed to stay cool.

Which mattresses am I comparing it to?

The guys at factory beds have some cheap mattresses and some very top end mattresses.

If we go for a mattress at a similar price then I feel the Restus is better value for money.

Obviously the dearer mattresses on the Factory beds site are better, hence the price difference.
