Christmas Bonus being paid next week

I love these threads that pop up every year. Particularly amusing are those that just have to tell everyone about their charitable donations. Why mention it? So you can demonstrate just how caring you really are and get a pat on the back? Genuine altruism does not require recognition.0

How do you know that people don't do lots of other charitable things throughout the year, but have just happened to mention what they do with the Christmas Bonus?(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Why do they give you £10, seems strange. Do they just send everyone £10 or means test it?Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0

Sure I received the bonus last year whilst being on ESA income based. Although I have received anything this year as of yet.
Edit; I did receive it having checked my account. Have the DWP changed the rules?0 -

According to the list you have to be on contribution ESA. Are you in the work group and that has run out. Because income related ESA Is not a qualifying Benefit.0 -

I am in the Support Group and have being paid this week as normal. Perhaps last years Christmas Bonus I was paid was in error unless they have changed the rules0 -

I don't - because they don't feel the need to shout it from the rooftops. However, in this thread, which is about the Christmas bonus, people feel the need to tell us that they give their free money away. I often wonder what the motivation is of anyone that feels the need to announces how caring and generous they are.
It may motivate others to do the same. It's someone else's fault.0 -
This is my first year of getting the £10 bonus and the WFA. I am grateful for anything I get but really could do without the cost of a letter to tell me about it. Not sure if they pay postage but the admin generated by every notification could, in my opinion, be spent on something else.
If they have to send letters, maybe they could ask you to tick a box if you want to donate it to charity then return it Freepost or something.
I do my charity bit by giving to and shopping in charity shops. I don't live in an affluent area but can't see any real evidence of anyone in need round here although I suppose there must be some.0
