Thank you for the new thread !
I'm going to be a small scale saver. I'm just going to put in any loose change from my purse and any cash I get from eBay sales when the buyer comes round to collect their item.
I use cards for most of my spending, so I won't have a lot of loose change.
But when I do, I'll bung it in my pot. I'm not going to count it as it goes in, as I want a complete surprise next year.
My total won't be mega bucks, but it will be a fun thing to do.Early retired - 18th December 2014

newlifeahead, well done on making a great start with the £10er, you'll love it this time next year when you've saved a bundle that you could well have otherwise wasted instead. :j All good wishes.EverTheOptimist wrote: »Right well I'm back in. Won't be posting much over the weekend as hubby has his 40th birthday party over the weekend in Taunton. It's not where we live but where he's based so it'll be a busy one.
Thanks for thread Sue. I can't begin to imagine how difficult this time of year is for this thread. With the declarations and the signer uppers. But exciting too.
I hope you have a wonderful time, ETO, you won't be too far away from me! Yes, a good area this. Please pass on Happy 40th Birthday wishes to your hubby. Re your last paragraph, all very true, but you hit the nail right on the head with the final bit. :grinheart I always get stressed on getting all the posts out together, terrified someone will post in between, but after it was on I was on a huge high, always am!! :j
You're most welcome, deldee, I wouldn't have it any other way.DreamerHelen wrote: »Sue hun...Can you Update my Target to £1000....thanks
I'm Potting £6.51 tonight...to give me a good start for the New Year...!!
Hi Helen, your Target's adjusted for you.
You've made a great start with that £6.51, you know what to do from here on, just always stay focused!
Good to see you, LeopardPrintsAndTea, and well done on a great start to the year.sparky0107 wrote: »Good Morning everyone
I see SPC 7 is off to a flying start. I've got to say the Grand total is looking good for this year. Still waiting for a lot of declarations though.
Hi sparky, not a bit surprised to hear about the Grand Total so far, but by heck are there ever a LOT to declare yet!! However do folk forget about it! :undecided
Hello nanto3girls, that was a quick return, lovely to see though.
So, you were true to your word then, b_e_g, lovely to see you so soon. :grinheart
It was no trouble at all, Happybeingme. Anytime you want it adjusted just say. I know there are hardly any of us who could match sparky's amount, but there are a wide variety of circumstances to prevent many, not so much in wages either, I'll bet! However, all any of us can do is the best under our circumstances, and I think you have the incentive to do just that...possibly a little more this year too.
Lovely to see you've settled in, Mrs Cheshire, don't make yourself too comfortable though ~ with luck there's roadkill to be sought after!!
You're welcome, Flat Eric, lovely to see you.Lynsey wrote:Sue - hope this thread goes the same as last years. Lots of fun, camaraderie and lots and lots of savings.
I reckon that's an absolute surety, Lynsey, all the other SPC threads have been too. Of course all our members are such a terrific lot and money is such a good topic of conversation be it saving or advising on how to gain more. BTW, I like your oath! Also, did you want your Target put on?
I love your typo phrase "God luck to all", maybe not a typo at all, but a warning to jakes-mum and LC 2, the turbulent twins!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
A great beginning, Saver88, you have all year to keep chipping away.
Thanks for the kind words, kiplingmonkey. I've sorted out your Target, all the best with it, with the bonds and Ernie too. You never know!
Your Target done now as well, ALM, all best wishes with reaching it.
Likewise with your Target, BlueDaisy, it's all done, so keep it in mind and do all you can. :j
Excellent potting with that £22.42, Jo, self disciple too I'm sure!LeaLea89 wrote:Well after i potted what was left over in the pots yesterday (already forgot the amount!)
Thanks so much for making that point, LeaLea. Sadly I think a lot of new members, who want a surprise so much, are frightened they'll remember every bit they'll pot, but, to my mind, it's just not possible. Thanks for inadvertently clarifying that. :grinheart I see you're another £2 coin lover, me too as they're so beautiful.Lost2 wrote:Thanks for that Sue, am still going to my physio classes and I have been back at work for 2 weeks I was off work for over 7 months but now I feel I need a holiday
glad you like my new friend
Really, Lost! That must have been really badly injured and something you need to take care with! It sounds like me when I damaged my hand in 2009, never been the same since after months of physio. C'est la vie.
You're most welcome, MissE, I had a reasonable night, but was up at 7.10. I still had so many problems again with the internet this morning and couldn't get on til after 11! :eek:lucyhope wrote:Hi all, I'm in again. potted £5 so far, next year is going to be expensive, youngest DD is getting married and we're paying for most of it [/quote
Oh dear, lucyhope, sadly something so wonderful is always so pricey! Best wishes for a LOT of good saving this year! At least you've made a start.
Good to see you, stiltoncheese. Maybe you managed to save something on SPC 6, I'll pop and see in a mo. Whoops! Was forgetting you are relatively new.
Excellent with the £5er start off, Moneysavingmomma!!! :j Your Target is on as well.
Please don't anyone worry about the 2014 by the side of Targets, it's so I know which ones are this year's and which have possibly yet to be done by members. I know what I'm doing, honest! I think.
Well done, purple angel, and lovely to see you.
A GREAT start, gottogo, and very good to see you again.
Thanks for some sound advice to all members, marco1dog, it would be good to see you more often though.
You do whatever suits you best, Goldiegirl, so long as you're happy that's all that counts.Sue x

Yay! SPC7 here I come. Things have been difficult for me this year so I wasn't able to keep up with the thread in the second half of the year but I was able to keep potting. I wouldn't be without it now. It's part of my routine. I am pleased with what I saved for SPC6 but it wasn't as much as the year before. My pay cut didn't help and things are more expensive so I'm not surprised but I'll just have to try harder this year. So I would like to set a target of £500 please.
Sue and Sparky, you guys are doing a wonderful job as always. Good luck everyone for SPC7!

newlifeahead - welcome and good luck.
Sue -(corrected) .......................... and not meant solely for the "twins". lol
Yes, put my target at £600, but I would love to get to 4 figures.
No real pressure on £600, a tad over a tenner per week.
I only really need £500'ish for Xmas, so anything over is a bonus.
But, next Xmas WILL be "free". :money:
Around £100 from my previous pot will be spent on our car.

Hello everyone
Just thought i'd introduce myself as i plan to leave my potting total as a complete surprise - as such i wont really update a lot.
Anyway you all seem very lovely so i thought i'd share why i'm taking part in this challenge - i'm really broody! The plan is for a 2015 baby so i've bought this beautiful pot:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pot-Of-Dreams-Baby-Fund/dp/B004AJO328 (althought for a more bargain price!).
I plan to open it either when full (unlikely as we're only doing £2s & £1s) or when it becomes needed. How exciting
Good luck to all!:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:
