The Dog Just Went Mad

He does a circuit of my living room which isn't that big. He jumps on one settee, runs along it, jumps off the end, runs to the other settee, jumps on that - well you get the picture!
catkins, that is a perfect description of exactly what our Ted does. He will often do a few circuits round the coffee table, which involves bouncing up on both sofas. It's funniest when he includes a lap down the hallway as well, as our tiled bathroom is at the end of the hall. He gets to the bathroom door at break-neck speed, slides 8ft or so across the tiles almost sideways then pushes back off from the wall so he can bomb back down the hall. It's like watching an olympic swimmer do a turn. I'm going to have to try and tape it one day. :rotfl:DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Dog zoomies, I like that expression. Ours tends to get set off by the cats teasing him, it's like he's burning off energy in frustration. Cat will be sat on table trying to boop him but he can't reach, so he'll charge down the hall, up and down the stairs, jump all over the cushions, and if you let him outside he'll run in one big circle on a tilt like he's on a racetrack.0

My OES does this, less so now he's an old boy. He would run back and forward, round and round, jump up - if you got in the way he would knock you over!
Never worked out what set him off. thought it might be a certain smell as it usually happened in certain parts of the woods where we walk, but sometimes it would happen in the house. We have nothing moveable/breakable in the living room!0 -
I don't think this is anything to worry about, because years ago my parents had a golden retriever and it would do exactly the same thing. I wonder if it is anything specific to pedigree dogs (more highly strung - barking mad) and their unpredictable behaviour.0
