Take her to the vets. Ear infections can do this. They can be very painful and disorientating.

Search "dog zoomies" on Youtube. It's a very common trait!
  • Was today a 'normal' day? I am only throwing my tuppence in as my lab is only 12 weeks old but would be more inclined to do this on a weekend day when there is no set routine. It's like 'you're all here, there's no school picks ups, I need to burn off something as we have been cuddling for more than an hour'.

I am in no way an expert so if you are in any way uneasy, phone the vet, for reassurance if nothing else.

I was off work, but she had her normal walks.

She is fast asleep on her bed now. Snoring away like a good'un. :)
  • Oh, OMO, I've just recognised your signature. A fellow black fridayer!

Anyways, in our house, it's not so much the exercise as miss shadows is the same amount, it's the change of habit, if that makes any sense to you . I could well be talking out of my hat, shadow is as mad as a box of frogs but is more zoomish of a weekend or day when there's not just me in!

My 15 month old dog often does similar when we get back from a walk, especially if for any reason the walk was shorter than normal. He does a circuit of my living room which isn't that big. He jumps on one settee, runs along it, jumps off the end, runs to the other settee, jumps on that - well you get the picture!

If she doesn't seem in pain or discomfort I would guess she was just letting off some steam and having fun.

I would just keep an eye on her and check she is eating ok etc. Another poster mentioned ear infections so it might be worth checking her ears. Usually though if they have an ear infection they tend to keep shaking their head a lot

I think it is typical Labrador behaviour, My lab is nearly 10 years old and she still does this often.

Hi there i have a 5 year old Staffy and she goes mental at least twice a day and loves playing trying to catch her tail. She caught it once lol and dug her teeth in you should have heard her yell but no harm done :rotfl:

My son's dog chases his willy:) now that really is a yelp when he catches it and sinks his teeth into it...stupid dog!:rotfl:

We call that bum tucking. Our lab has always done it, not so much now shes getting older. There's no routine as to when it will happen and to how often either. Sometimes she'll start in-doors, literally bouncing off the sofa and skidding through the house, so we open back door and she'll just run flat out all round the garden. Id say its totally normal lab behaviour.

That'll be a "snap" then - our 3yo black lab is the same. It can be fun enticing her to keep it going, though for obvious reasons we prefer to do that outdoors...
All my friends and neighbours helped me pack and move for free, at first I was happy until I got told no one liked me and they just wanted to make sure I left. Thanks Mum and Dad.
