OK, then, how long before I can't make payments to new beneficiaries.....
But, on logging in this morning, the first thing that comes up is the answer: "You need to upgrade your security by 18 December 2013".0 -
No 18th December message for me.0

Logged in without secure key today and they are still allowing payments to be made to existing payees without the secure key."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

Which to choose when the time comes secure key or digital secure key. I'm torn between the two:(0

You can also pick the more secure option: a phone call and neither of those two.
If you do choose one of those two options, do be sure that you only use it when you want to set up new payments, not for normal transactions. That way only the sessions where you're setting up new transactions are vulnerable, not the rest.0 -

I'll be going for the digital secure key, and then just using my phone to setup new payees.
I'll never use the digital secure key to sign in from my PC unless it becomes a requirement.0 -

I don't intend using it regularly in fact I have a Nationwide reader as far as I can remember have only used it once, so I don't suppose it matters which I pick. I'll only really be using it at home whilst on my PC so I suppose either will do. May as well go for the digital version slightly more environmentally friendly using an electronic device I already have rather than getting another one which will eventually end up being disposed of!0 -

I got the digital security key a few days ago on my iphone and you cannot use the FD smartphone app to setup new payees. The smartphone app functionality remains the same ie payments to existing beneficiaries only but you also have a "generate security code" option which after putting in your secure key password generates a 6 digit code which is used to login to FD internet banking on your pc or your smartphone browser. You can login into the FD internet banking without the 6 digit code but you won't be able to setup new payments.0
