  • You should go to see your Personal Tutor and discuss this with him. I imagine that there is some way of finding out via data protection disclosure laws what information they are holding about you.

By personal tutor do you mean in university?

Sounds like you put your foot right in your mouth.
If you were not taken before a court, you have no convictions.

I would put some effort in to learning the good advice of knowing when to keep your mouth shut.
    Be happy...;)

You are a degree candidate in your 30s and you thought an hour in the cells and a push off and behave in future from a copper was a conviction?
    Was it Whizz BTW?

I didn't disclose the arrest. Im guessing that its the reason i was rejected security clearance?

Do you think this is the reason for my failed clearance?

Well to be totally honest I'm not sure. I was arrested taken to the police station they asked me a few questions and took photo's and charged me and let me go. Sorry I thought that was a conviction.

I haven't actually received my letter of rejection as yet. Im just thought it would be this incident that resulted in my rejection. Im waiting for the procedure to find out more about the rejection and the appeals procedure. The lady from the council said if the rejection isn't to do with me then they wont tell me why its been rejected because it could be a family member.

But i think it must be this incident.

I'm actually wondering (and no offence meant) how you actually got a place at uni. A conviction happens in COURT. :rotfl:

Unlikely that you would fail Security Clearance for a family member, or a caution 14 years ago, so you need to push them for the information.

YES. Or the Careers Section. Or your Course Tutor. If work experience is required to pass the course you need to be talking to them about the problem.

I doubt that would even show up.

I lost my Extra Positive Vetting in the Army for over a year because my uncle was secretary of the CPGB Scottish Branch, I had to re-trade. It depends what the job was.

Ok, Digg taken... I had no idea of what a conviction is.. I thought that if i was charged with this crime i have a conviction. I didnt think it was something that would stop me from performing my work experience and thats why i didnt put it down in my application.

But now im thinking that because i didnt disclose it maybe they dont deem me to be trusted.

If you were charged with a crime then shouldn't you have been taken to court? You say in the opening post that you weren't cautioned, but now you were charged?

If you were let out after an hour and a police officer told you that you weren't being given a caution then there's no reason to think you've been charged with a crime.
