    Sorry I missed that bit.

It was in the opening post.
If police can't resolve it, do it back at them. See how they like it when their insurance goes up by £3000

    Terrible advice.

Don't drag yourself down to their level OP certianly not with this sort of passive agressive behaviour.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Not a judgement of the OP but ususally you can easily work out who it is. This isn't just random drunk vandalism (I had some idiot vomit on my car once).

This is a delibirate and planned attack specifically targeting the OP.

Could be a deranged ex lover, a business partner crossed, a bad ebay deal, a neighbour from hell doing it over parking disputes or just a random ex friend turned enemy who is out seeking revenge.

I would have imagined it would be fairly easy to identify who it is. Unless you make a lot of enemies.

It certainly doesn't have to be the OP's fault. I had my car vandalized once for parking somewhere that had been, how shall we say, squatters rights claimed, by someone living almost half a mile away from the space in a different street altogether. The police were useless as always and expected me to do all the work despite receiving threats and even physical violence from the resident in question. They knew who it was, but why ruffle feathers eh? It's easier just to let me get assaulted.

Don't inform your insurance company. Keep the police closely involved, but monitor their actions. If they are taking too long, try and record it yourself. Set up your own CCTV, or better yet, try and record it on a phone camera while you are there.

    Bad idea.

Whilst the Police seem incapable of action against the other party now, should something mysteriously happen to them in the near future you will be pursued with all the vigour that you would have wished them to be now.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

What are you? New board pedant?

Do you disagree that sneaking about and committing acts of violence in revenge/retaliation is a bad idea as it is more than likely to land the OP with a criminal record?

Sometimes it gets to the stage where the innocent party has had enough, and because the police fail to act, they have to take matters into their own hands.
Of course this can be risky, but what do you do? Do you simply put up with it, and let people treat you like dirt, in the knowledge that the police are by and large a lazy bunch of corrupt liars, or do you try to reslove it yourself.
Life should not be like that, but unfortunately it is.

andy - totally agree. If you look at what I said originally, I would have been waiting to catch them in the act and confronting them. What I don't think is a good idea is londontiger's tit-for-tat window breaking game which goonarmy seems to be all for.

Of course it is not a good idea and it is easier to do from the comfort of the armchair than in real life.
