On going vandalism of both our cars, how many excess will I have to pay for each car?

So by the sounds of it, one vehicle has been vandalised 3 times and the other car vandalised twice. Technically this would be 5 claims that you need to make and so 5 excesses to pay.
A smashed rear windscreen however is a glass claim, not vandalism and so it'll be 4 Own Vehicle Damage excess and one glass excess to pay and you'll lose NCD from both policies even if the NCD is protected.
Obviously, most people would either (a) not tell their insurers at all, other than possibly about the glass claim which wont impact the NCD and has a lower excess or (b) claim it all happened in one incident and thus just have one claim against each vehicle (so 2 excesses to pay)
As the police are involved then (b) is a moderate risk strategy as the insurers may contact the police for further info.0 -
Caveat Emptor?. Let the buyer beware?.londonTiger wrote: »you would be bonkers to disclose this to insurance. You might as well hand back your license to the DVLA and take taxis everywhere than disclose 3 incidents of vandalism because it mihgt be cheaper to use taxis than pay insurance.
Caveat Emptor, you have to declare all these incidences to your insurer.0 -
Rear screen has been smashed again last night even before getting repaired. Can't see the point in getting the repairs done until we have some evidence so that the police can do something about it. I had to call the police out last night aswell as had a friend of the people who we suspect of doing it woke me up, banging on our door at 12 o'clock, barged their way in, making threats and refused to leave.0

So what have you guys done to get someone so riled up?
Can you not set your own camera up?
To be honest, I'd have been camping in the front garden by now ready to catch them at it!What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Doesn't have to be OP's fault. There are some low life out there.I had to call the police out last night aswell as had a friend of the people who we suspect of doing it woke me up, banging on our door at 12 o'clock, barged their way in, making threats and refused to leave.
I would be going down to the police station to ask, demand to know what they were doing. If I didn't get a decent answer I would go to my MP and local councillor to get them onside. Photos of the cars to show the problem and perhaps break down in tears when seeing the MP.0 -

Not a judgement of the OP but ususally you can easily work out who it is. This isn't just random drunk vandalism (I had some idiot vomit on my car once).
This is a delibirate and planned attack specifically targeting the OP.
Could be a deranged ex lover, a business partner crossed, a bad ebay deal, a neighbour from hell doing it over parking disputes or just a random ex friend turned enemy who is out seeking revenge.
I would have imagined it would be fairly easy to identify who it is. Unless you make a lot of enemies.0 -

second time you quoted me on that.. Explain..0 -
It isn't something that is our fault hence taking out the anti harassment order on them a couple of years ago. The police have already photographed the cars and have been back round this afternoon to fill in the forms to get the camera installed which the said they are going to get installed asap as it has been referred to the chief inspector who is taking it very seriously.0

The OP has already said they know pretty much who it is having had issues with them before.
Given the nature of it, it would be interesting to know what kicked it off. Giraffe is right these are low-life people but something started it all even if it was looking at their pint funny in the pub. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Sorry I missed that bit.
If police can't resolve it, do it back at them. See how they like it when their insurance goes up by £30000
