  • Don't get a contract for a teenager. Buy the phone and get a PAYG SIM. Look at Ovivo, the "3" 321 PAYG offer or giffgaff.

As above, this is a myth. Tesco contracts can be capped from the word go.

I think this phone could be just right for my budget, thank you for all your help. I just need to find them in Tesco before they sell out again!!

Decision made and phone(s) bought - one for each of my 2 youngest. Went into Tesco, bought phones for £99 (8gb) each and because I bought 2 I get a family discount. So for now have taken a £7.50 pay monthly SIM (30 days) which had no data, but get 250mb data free each on the family promotion. So will be paying £15 a month for both. I know that's not a lot of data, however if I need more I can just pay another £2.50 a month each for more. Both are capped aswell. They were extremely helpful in store too. Many thanks for eveyone's thoughts and comments. :T :T

With the tesco sims you can cap them so no expensive lessons.

If he runs out of texts/calls he can install viber/whatsapp and use a wifi connection to send a text/make a call but obvioulsy the other person needs to be connected to wifi.

    No they don't.

Viber and whatsapp work over 3G. So one party can be on wifi, the other on 3G.
