Received death threats at work - told to follow Grievance Procedure

Manager said can have a (pointless) word with the perpetrator or I can follow the Grievance Procedure. A Grievance made against them. I want this person sacked, the person in question if aggressive and the office bully but has the managers on side. I have no witnesses as such and I feel they has the managers wrapperd around their finger. I should I go about this?

If someone has made a death threat why have you not reported it to the police? We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

..because there were no witnesses..she does have previous in the workplace I don't want to involve the police but want her fired. The person in question would probably admit to the offence when questioned as part of the disciplinary procedure.0

So you have to raise a grievance in order for an investigation to happen. You really think they'd just sack someone on your say-so with (as you have already admitted) no witnesses?0 -
Well a death threat is a death threat and if you have no witnesses then you are screwed if your work wont do anything about it other than raise a grievance...because there were no witnesses..she does have previous in the workplace I don't want to involve the police but want her fired. Why would they do that?
They wouldnt shoot themselves in the foot to be sacked, would they?0 -
Entrap them. Get your phone on record and try to coax the incident out loud.
It is highly likely it will happen again in the right circumstance. This time they will be bang to rights.
Even if you don't catch the threat, there will almost certainly be an oppressive and abusive dialogue your employer should take stock from.0 -
Yes I thought about entrapping them with witnesses. Not sure on the legalities of phone recordings etc though.
The managers would have no doubt what this person is capable of saying this and know I wouldn't make it up.
I just think as it stands they may reject my grievance on the basis of no witnesses as it's the easy way out.
I think the perpetrator may well admit it but play the "i was only joking card".0 -

True, but it will lend credence to your plight in any case.0 -
There seems to be 3 options. Report her to the police, leave your job or follow the grievance proccedure. They will not be able to sack her just on your say so, so maybe report to the police and file a grievance. What did she actually say to you?0

Hello.
Why would she admit to it?
Seems unlikely given what she has done.
Unless management totally bent it would be like a turkey voting for christmas.0
