Hi molerat - letter from BT says service would end on Monday 25th and letter from Tesco advises their service will start today, Tuesday 26th.

BT cut them off yesterday at midday and my parents landline is still not working. I rang Tesco this morning and they advise their landline should be connect by midnight today !!

So, basically, nothing has gone wrong as they've done exactly what was stated in the letter?

My original question was to ask the lovely knowledgable friends on this board, if they knew how long it usually takes to get reconnected.

Tesco advised 26th November - so no, nothing wrong and they have 8 hours remaining.

How long is a piece of string? I guess. It will definitely vary.

When I moved from BT to Sky my Broadband was off for about half an hour.

My switch was done around 2030 but the letter said any time up to midnight.
  • I've been told that I can't go straight from talk talk (phone and broadband) to sky broadband and phone. I'd have to go back to bt for phone for 12 months.

    Something to do with unbundling.

    Please comment on that!

Talk Talk and Sky haven't set themselves up for GNP (Geographic Number Portability). OFCOM said that every customer should have the option to port their number, but operators aren't forced to set up GNP between themselves.
  • Hi everyone.... an update .....

Tesco have still not connected my parents landline. Phoned them again today - "they are having problems, but, are working on it " this is so frustrating....
  • At our whits end with TESCO .... Parents landline and BB still not connected ... Tesco say fault with the line and have to get BT to sort out.

There was no fault before !

Parents so far have used £31.00 on their pay as you go mobile to Tesco don't customer care ....

Any suggestions guys what I can do to get this resolved ?

Because it's an LLU to LLU transfer. Rarely possible. As advised, you'd need to do a return to donor back to BT first. The only way around this is a new line provision and port your old number over to the new line. But there is a cost involved so you'd have to ask Sky if they will absorb that charge.
