Good morning all
I have just ordered a gown from ebay and the postage was £29.99 which seemed about right for the size of the gown its a UK order o when it arrived yesterday I was a little peeved to find it only cost £6.50 to send and it came in an old second hand box so packing wasnt expensive. before I leave feedback I wondered if i have any right to file a moan with the seller and get something back from paypal or if its a simple case of tough get on with it?
any advive would be great thank you

If postage was stated up front, and you were happy to bid, there's not really that much to complain about, it's just part of the sellers profit. The money, Dave...0 -
May not be a lot you can do now for your own sale. £30 for a gown is well over the top. Be a bit more careful next time.
But if you feel really hard done by, you could report sellers other listings for Excessive Postage & Packaging Charges.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
I would be upset too, I would have expected courier delivery and a beautifully boxed gown in layers of carefully wrapped tissue, or in a nice dress bag. The seller is taking the mick with a tatty old box, I would give a neutral and report for excessive charges/fee avoidance. This is all assuming it was an expensive designer gown? (For a bargain I would just leave it).
When I sold my dd's prom dress (for a fraction of cost:rolleyes: ), I sent it in the nice dress bag, with a perfumed sachet inside, and i only charged a fiver p&p! - I never even got feedback:mad: "There is a light that never goes out"0 -
Definite case for reporting for fee avoidance. Equally, £30 for postage is extreme, and I wouldn't have bid.
PM me their user ID if you like and I'll get righteous on them.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
What postal services were stated in the auction? Did it state courier delivery?
I would e-mail the seller and explain that you are unhappy with the charges for postal services and see what response you get. Then you can leave feedback accordingly.
DaveBrooker - I know the OP was happy to accept the postal charges when they bid but they were expecting decent packing and an expensive delievry service. Charging that much more is overly excessive.0 -
Does this seller regularly sell these items, or was it a one off.
You've more chance of getting a partial refund if it's a one off. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -

Was the gown poor quality ? If you consider the total amount £36.49 to be a good deal then you should not be moaning.
The second hand box has nothing to do with the product you are buying.
I'm happy to avoid the excessive eBay fees and have just sold an item for 99p plus £35 postage, they are making out of PayPals £1.40 take on the transaction - I put a line in the listing "if you are unhappy about the low item price plus postage then please do not bid or buy"0 -
OP doesn't say how much she paid for the item - she paid £29.99 and it only cost £6.50. Yes, she agreed when bidding the postage price, but I too would have expected it to be packed better and to have cost more than 6.50 to post so she has been excessively charged. I hate people who bump the prices up on items to avoid ebay fees - if you don't want to pay the fees sell them somewhere else. I charge exact postage and add on 10p packing as I always use new bags for posting out, I don't charge for my time in packing an item (always wrapped in tissue paper (new)) nor do I charge for driving to the post office - Op has every right to be annoyed - I would email them first to say you are disappointed with the postal charge and give your reasons, if they don't offer a partial refund, then I would leave a neutral to warn others of the excessive charge and I would also report them to ebay.0

Providing it arrived in good order it does not matter that the packaging was not brand new.
At the end of the day the postage amount was stated up front and by bidding OP accepted it.
Ebay buyers never step in to offer to pay extra when parcels cost more than was quoted...The money, Dave...0 -
