    Congratulations Opto-mum. Lovely news.

No football today but DH is taking the kids to a Christmas party at Leyt0n 0rient. I'm going to We5tfield for a bit of crimbo shopping.

I'm surprisingly organised. I must have forgotten something. Expect panic when I realise which ball I've dropped!

No time to read the thread so wishing you all well on this first day of Advent.

    Congrats Opto-mummy!

I spent last night watching TV, drinking wine and eating prawn crackers. It was bliss :D:rotfl: Thought I was going to wake up with a cracking head this morning but nothing except a craving for pure orange juice :)

I am now going to sort the pics out for doing my window. My "Merry Christmas" is all laminated and sorted to save me having to make it again next year, I have a Santa in his sleigh and reindeer which are much more complicated than last years so thats staying in paper form so I can cut it down as I go along to get things in the right place. Just need to dig the paint out now and I'll get on with it ready for DD getting home tonight :)

    I'm home!

Thought I'd left my phone, rooted through two bags for it only to realise it was in the kangaroo pocket on my sweater. The one I'm wearing. :D

So, I've opened all the upstairs windows, stripped beds, put a wash on and made some porridge. I've also squirted the bottom of DS window frame with mould stuff  note to self: ventilate room more often...

So my plan is to get all the bedding washed, collect all dry stuff and sort, wash upstairs windows, do the bit of ironing that's required (we are having another dress down month for charity so no work clothes for me :T)

I'm doing a mini-December challenge: this week and next, I'm going to sift through a toy box / bucket / drawer each day. I'm going to fling anything that falls under "tat" rules, bag anything my mum may want for her new venture, and organise the remaining to free up some more space.

I am mostly sorted for the 25th. The kids things are all done, bar wrapping. I think I now have a plan for my brother & family (which may involve hotel chocolat champagne truffles!).

There are some things I want to make (have fabric leftover from DH memory bears, so was going to make MIL a little key ring - a fabric envelope with a crystal inside, one that's supposed to be for peace and emotional well being) and I also want to do more chili jam, and some chocs, plus the toffee vodka wants filtering again (ask me how I know ;)), and I need to check the mince-pie brandy... :)

Ooh, I also have a plan for where the outdoor lights will come in for power!

    Away with the fairies
  • Bossy moo it might join you on the tat sorting front as I look at the kids rooms and I've no idea how their stuff from Santa will fit lol I have an assignment to write this week though so my focus goes on that where possible.

    Morning all

    Happy December everyone!

I have two lots out on line. Two jumpers are back out there as well; windows open to let in fresh air. MY bed stripped and airing.

Am now a redhead (as opposed to a gingery-grey head;)). I bought some 'savers' rubber gloves - FAR better than the plastic bags they give you which are on the tight side for me anyway.

    Congrats Opto!

I have bought my class advent calendars - I'm just going to 'resign' myself to having 39 VERY excited 6/7 year olds for the next three weeks;) Christmas spirit and all that. I cannot remember exactly who posted about 'he comes if you believe in him' but it's stored away ready to deal with any cynics! (Might have been Mrs Moneypenny?) whoever it was I was in awe at the assumption of her children that their dad had 'done' it all! Every time I think anout it it makes me smile...whichever Flylady it was I was, and am, in awe at your organisational skills!

Am constructing a stock-up shopping list because there's a special 20% off day for staff at a certain supermarket so cat food, cat litter, washing powder etc will be stocked up on;)

It being 1st December, I thought it was about time I started thinking about making this:

    1 cup of water
    1 tsp baking powder
    1 cup of sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1 cup of brown sugar
    lemon juice
    4 large eggs
    lots of nuts
1 bottle Gin (Sloe Gin will do at a push)
    2 cups of dried fruit

    Method

Sample the gin to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the gin again. To be sure it is the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink.
    Repeat.
Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it’s best to make sure the gin is still OK.
Try another cup ... just in case. Turn off the mixerer.
Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
    Pick fruit off floor.
    Mix on the turner.
If the fried fruit gets stick in the beaterers pry it loose with a sdrewscriver.
Sample the gin to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Who giveshz a sh*t.?
    Check the gin.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
    Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.
Greash the oven and p1ss in the fridge.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don’t forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the gin and dance around the house naked.
    Fall into bed.
    CHERRY MISTMAS!
    Better is good enough.
