Just home, wine poured accompanied by a bag of salt and vinegar crisps !

Ooh a Chauffeur sounds fab, but I don't like other people driving me much , so I would probably sack him within the week ! Part of the rushing around is my own fault. DD1's a big girl now, but I like to drop her at parties, so I know exactly where she is and I feel happier if I collect her, although she did get the train tonight so I only had to go as far as the station. :o

At least you paid half of the mortgage. Better than none at all. Do you have in your terms and conditions about late payment charges? At least that way you could claw something back for the aggravation that late payment causes.....

I am amazed about how much work your poor DD1 has to do. I guess it is only for a little bit longer, and then she can have the summer off. Will the courses she does at college be this intense?

They usually charge us about £35 per letter when we pay late, but they regularly waive those for us, as they have this month. I am unsure about other late payment charges though I must admit. :o

DD1 is leaving in 10 mins for a seven hour controlled assessment today. I will be glad when this particular assessment is over as its been a nightmare to organise.

She will still have alot of work at college, she has chosen to study two creative subjects at A Level and from what I understand the coursework is pretty immense. Alot of colleges dont allow the two subjects to be studied together due to the workload, so it looks like we could be in this for the long haul. The college has already given her the first Topic for her A Levels for her to begin thinking about and researching through the summer.

And there was me hoping she may be able to find herself a job !! :rotfl:

Sorry PG I didn't make myself clear. When YOU set up a contract with a new or existing client for some work, how much do YOU charge the company employing you when they pay late? Ie is is so many pounds per day, or do you start charging interest, do YOU charge for letters or phone calls chasing the payments?

Thankyou PennyWise, not really feeling amazing thats for sure but thankyou for your lovely words !!

The assessment was pretty much an out and out nightmare. By 2.30pm DD1 was exhausted. She had been typing this assessment since 8.30 starting at the lap top, they had had breaks but she was exhausted. Everybody else were doing re-sits to get their grades up but this was her one and only attempt. To cut a very long story short DD1 got wind of a conversation that another child had had with her teacher about finishing her assessment, This child was doing her re-sit and was working very slowly and was causing disruption to the rest of the class.. The teacher said that she would ask the examining board for more time for this child as she clearly wasn't going to finish in the hours that had been allocated and would tell the examining board that the child had been off sick and therefore had been unable to complete it and would need another session. A very tired and stressed DD1 saw red at this and approached the teacher about it. The teacher tried to backtrack, but DD1 argued her case. As she explained to the teacher " DD1 had been off of school, she had missed nearly a month, she hadn't been able to sit the assessment initially and neither was she going to get an opportunity to resit and they were trying to cram an entire seven hour exam into one session and she was exhausted. How unfair that the teacher was willing to make excuses to the examining board for a child who hadnt actually been ill and just didn't want to work, whereby not only had DD1 missed an awful lot of school they also had a letter from the Doctors explaining as such and how poorly she had been and still wasnt top of the world, and that DD1 wanted more time as she couldnt concentrate any longer. The teacher then said that she understood but hadn't wanted to give DD1 that option initially as she was afraid she wouldn't show up at all. DD1 was livid by this accusation. As she pointed out not only is she an extremely hard worker, the thought would never have crossed her mind and also the teacher had been in regular contact with me and the heads of departments with regards to this exam and have never given any indication in her whole time at school that she would slack. Also that I had tried to arrange two additional sessions with the teacher to break the exam into three smaller chunks yet the teacher forgot to turn up to one of them and the other arrived, but had no idea why she was there and what assessment DD1 needed to do so therefore was not prepared and DD1 got nothing done at all just sat there for an hour and a half twiddling her thumbs. I'm afraid the teacher saw her feisty, but polite side that day !!:rotfl:So DD1 packed up and left the exam with a few hours to go and an apology . She turned up home white as a sheet with a pounding headache.

I am really proud that she stood her ground, but what I haven't told her is that I have no idea when on earth she is going to find the time to finish this exam. I am having a slight panic about that one ! Study leave begins on the 9th May !! xxx

Bet you wished you hadn't asked !! :rotfl::rotfl:

It was probably me not reading what you wrote properly. My head is all over the place this week.

We start charging interest after the 28 days, we don't charge for letters or phone calls I must admit. We havent charged the particular company in question as yet though. Huge company, household name that everyone reading will have heard of. We start doing that , we dont work for them again and they will do their best within that department to ruin our reputation. We will charge if things continue much longer but I admit its something we think carefully about doing dependent on the client and how much clout they have within the industry. If it could have a major knock on effect then its not worth doing . Invoice had been reissued now with a different number, but we did get a call yesterday to tell us that the original invoice, the one they said was lost, then duplicated then issued in 2007 had been paid !! There was no mention of the new invoice they asked us to issue in its place !!! You never know they could end up paying us twice at this rate !!! :rotfl:

  • Good on your DD for standing her ground. I really feel for her :( I hope she manages to get everything done on time. Take it the other child is teacher's pet?! (grr). I hope you've booked time off in the summer to go on a break, sounds like your DD will need it as much as you and your DH  xxx
