Well at least it's an acknowledgement that right is on your side :)

I also got jacks cookbook this week. I think it has great potential. The other one, (which I could post you to borrow if you like) is the JO saving ( forget it's precise name) one. I think that's got some good cheap recipes as well. The roast chicken and risotto certainly went down well here.

Apart from stretching chicken (!) we are also trying much more veggie stuff. That cuts down the cost, especially if you go seasonal too. We get veggies and stuff eg. Milk delivered straight from the farm too. Saves precious time ( unless you like strolling the SM aisles :p ) and there is no middleman...

Have fun and hope DD2 feels better soon x

Thanks Mrs B, let me know if you make anything from Jacks book, I still havent had time to sit and look at it properly . We dont eat huge amounts of meat but I must admit to spending a small fortune on fresh juice, smoothies, nice fruit etc and shovel it down the girls. I rarely seem to get around to making smoothies although DD2 will do so occasionally if she is around and has time.

I used to have milk delivered but our milkman if he was going away for the weekend for example would leave Fri, Sat, Sun and Mondays milk sitting on the doorstep. By the time I came home four days worth had sat in the sunshine getting lovely and warm and it seemed false economy as I threw it all away. We get through loads and loads of milk , maybe its worth trying again. Thankyou xx

I sometimes think how nice it would be for a dull moment , but right now I'm not sure one is likely to appear anytime soon !! :)

    Sorry to hijack...

brizzled, does the Jack M cookbook have a lot of gluten-free recipes in it? Just that if it's 100 recipes and 50 are out because of their content, then it's probably not wrth me getting it. (I know I can substitute with g-f ingredients, but that costs more)

You aren't hijacking Apple.I haven't sat down and looked at the book properly yet, but must admit I didnt I spot any gluten free recipes when I flicked through it. Mrs B may have had a closer look though.

If I get a chance tonight I will have a closer look for you though. xx

I have had a bit of a rubbish day again. basically due to my silly frazzled head I totally and utterly forgot to pay the VAT bill. In 16 years of business, I have never ever forgotten. I have reminders set up all over the place, but usually I don't even bother with reminders as the dates are ingrained in my head. Not this time though ! :o

I knew it was coming up, but I thought it was due on the 6th April, but when I was in the office today I was on the phone to a client when I noticed a post it note stuck on the desk saying Vat due 06 March, £900 short. Talk about panic, not only am I late paying, but I am still £900 short.

Anyway I frantically fired off the return, paid what I could less the £900 which I am hoping I can cover next Tuesday and will hope for the best that they don't notice !! Chance will be a fine thing !

    What a complete idiot !!

Other than that we have had a job cancelled on us which we were due start next week leaving us £1K short. We are really angry in the way the company has gone about it and although we would usually invoice anyway , as we have turned down so much work over that period, they have made it very clear that although the whole reason for cancelling is their mistake they will categorically not pay our cancellation bill. They are a huge company, one that we had a run of 5 months work from last year and on this occasion we don't want too kick up too much of a stink. This time we will swallow it as if I am honest Mr PG is desperately in need of a few days off so although it will leave us short it could be a blessing in disguise.

I have spoken to him this evening and he is uncharacteristically low , fed up and sounding very worried. Its not like him but he says he is just fed up chasing our tails, never seeing each other, working every weekend and evenings. As fast as we get ahead we seem to be hit by another huge bill or a crisis that's sets us back to where we started again and hes not sure how much longer we can continue with it. The car trouble last year followed by the other events set us back by about £7K. Had that not happened we would have been doing really well . We would have £5K towards the tax bill and we wouldn't have the £2K arrears on the loan. None of this was predicted and there was nothing we could have done differently to avoid it , but Mr PG is sounding as though he hasn't got much more fight left in him :(

Its days like this when I am seriously tempted to put the house up for sale. xxx

    Hi AM

Just spotted this. Don't think it did but will have a look when I get home over weekend but am with Mrs PG and think it was not particularly GF and despite Jack being vegan, not many vegan recipes either.

Oh Mrs PG..maybe it's worth thinking about. He must be exhausted and there is no point getting ill.

Treat these few days off, as you say, as a blessing and use them to get your mojo back...whether that's to stick or sell or reflect...doesn't matter. Take some time and regroup

    And that's an order ;)

PS maybe you can start your claim against the IFA at the same time ;):p
