I made it last year for my DS. Glad you like it and that you will be doing one yourself.
Thank you Bluenose1 for remembering my creation, and for recommending it.
I am giving money to my nephew this year, and will be making a treasure chest for it.
I bought treasure chests from Hobbycraft, which I will be spraying gold with spray paint I bought from the pound shop.
I will be filling it with £15, which will be made up of £1, 50p and 20p coins.
Then I will add a bag of gold chocolate coins as well as a bag of silver chocolate coins.
I will also be adding gold chocolate bars (£1 for a box of 6 from Sainsbury's) and gems stones (aka fruit drops).
I am also adding a candy necklace, bracelet, watch and ring.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...
..one size fits all... and nobody minds if you give it back.☆.。.:*・° Housework is so much easier without the clutter ☆.。.:*・°SPC No. 5180 -
box of chocs, with £1 coins in place of some of the chocs! That way you get to eat them too!0

What great ideas peeps, shame my kids are all grown up now!
OP you son sounds like a lovely well grounded chap who will appreciate whatever is given to him and will make the best use of it too.
It's nice to hear about young people wanting to save up to get something rather than the "I want" that seems to be the thing nowadays.
Just a thought but you could get a small xmas tree and fix cash to the branches making it a "money tree".

a couple of years ago my lovely grandson (almost 18) was sadly lacking in the present department compared to his sister, so we wrapped bars of chocolate with £5 notes, stuffed them in gloves and socks and he loved it. Teenagers LOVE money .0

I am making money trees for my DDs and DN. Have bought 3ft prelit xmas trees and then coin pouches. Have punched a hole in the corner of the coin pouch, attached ribbon and either folded the notes or popped a coin into each pouch. Planning to use survival blankets (the big silver ones) to wrap instead of cellophane and also to put some chocolate coins on aswell. Will just have to tell them all that it is only at XMAS that money grows on trees!!0
