Did you pay rent to your parents or were you living rent free with no tenancy agreement. If you were living rent free then quite possibly you should have been saving the rent you would have paid every month to cover what just happened. If you had a tenancy agreement then your mother couldn't just demand that you move.

If the latter then I would get quite sniffy with her!
