I couldn't see myself buying any car for £12k private. That sort of money, I'd want to see a dealer behind it.
A wreck for £2000 or under, fine. You pays yer money you takes your chance. But £12k!?!?
Sometimes, "brave" isn't the word you're looking for!
Nobidy buys a 130 as a car. It'll be a working vehicle.0 -
Saying this is a private sale is fundamentally incorrect. A private sale is just that, a sale between two individuals acting in a personal capacity. What is not a private sale is an individual buying from an organisation. The fact it was a fleet vehicle and not their line of products carries little relevant.0

Don't know about the legals of it, but if you want to keep the vehicle, find a better independent.
Plenty of LR owners on here (cos they're all tight as!). If you tell us where you are, you might get a recommendation. Also tell us what engine it is - Like Richard53, I'm guessing Td5 from the price.0 -

Red diesel is identical to normal diesel apart from the dye they put in it to distinguish it from normal diesel0

You can get red diesel that has had the dye removed in a shed, by adding a strong acid. Usually there is enough acid residue in the fuel to make a mess of the fuel system over time. It doesn't get rid of the secret marker though that the excise men test for when they dip your tank. Not worth using in a commercial, the fine is massive if they catch you.
In the OPs case, I'd suggest a new diesel filter as a first step, and get some fresh fuel through it.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
